HBO’s The Last of Us: What’s the blower?

HBO’s The Last of Us is the biggest thing lately. It’s an amazing adaptation that stays largely true to the game with a few thoughtful exceptions. One such exception concerns gentle use for sufferers. In the game, getting injured is a fairly common occurrence. While you can go a long time without getting infected, the show has entire episodes where we don’t see an infected person threatening anyone.

To balance out the fact that infections are rare, they also appear to be more dangerous. In the game, it is not uncommon to eliminate several infected people. On the show, a single injury can become a huge problem for even a group of armed survivors. The increased danger posed by the infected works well because it becomes all too easy to see how humanity has largely lost its world to infections, parasites, and bloaters. This is especially true in Episode V when we see a large group of infected people rise from the ground and overwhelm a group of heavily armed and capable survivors.

In the show, we first see bellows when Kathleen’s group is overrun with infection. While the infected themselves are dangerous, the Bloater is particularly lethal. Despite being heavily armed, Kathleen’s forces are unable even to destroy Bloater. We see it easily killing any human being in its path with its massive size, strength and durability.

Being able to take full clips of bullets from an assault rifle is definitely a power-up from the game. While the Bloaters in the game are dangerous, they can be taken down by Joel with enough wits and weapons. With how strong Bloaters is on the show, it’s hard to imagine anyone bringing one down. The only downgrade seems to be that Bloaters have no way of hitting someone within range.

Video game bouffants are deadly enemies and are similar to a boss encounter. They are incredibly durable and dangerous, especially when surrounded by other infected. They also have ranged attacks where they can hit you with germs. In the end, the Blowers in the game seem to be somewhat weaker than the Bloaters in the show. At some point in the game, you are supposed to encounter two Bloaters at once. It’s hard to imagine anything less than a cast pulling off one of the show’s bloopers. Facing two Bloaters at the same time is still quite a challenge in the game, but it seems like it would be impossible in the adaptation.

The Bloaters video game also has a unique killing animation when they defeat Joel. These are often very terrifying scenes that indicate just how powerful the Bloaters are in this new world. While they may not be as powerful as the show’s version of the monster, the video game Bloaters are still the kings of the infected world.
