Teen injured in roadside shooting due to lane change on Interstate 290: HCSO

Harris County, Texas (KTRK) – A 14-year-old caught in the middle of what deputies describe as a road shooting, is still alive after the bullet hit the headrest of a car, completely missing the teen.

The entire ordeal unfolded on Tuesday around 6 p.m. as the lane change along the 20300 block of Northwest Highway near Hofmeister Road was made.

A Texas DPS officer was stopping traffic in the area when he heard a gunshot. A black Lexus sedan approached him, with the driver saying that a man in another black sedan fired a single shot into his car after both cars turned and entered each other’s lane.

The shot missed the driver and his 14-year-old companion, who sustained a minor wound from broken glass when the bullet entered the rear window.

Investigators are now collecting videos from the companies to identify the suspect’s vehicle.
