Microsoft ended the week with three builds of Windows 11 across the main Windows Insider channels. There is a new design for the Dev Channel (23430), Beta Channel (22624.1546 and 22621.1546), and Canary Channel (25336). We’ve got all the details for you here, but keep in mind that these are not major builds, and mainly focus on bug fixes.
Dev Channel (Build 23430)
Starting with the Dev channel first, there’s just one new feature to note. Microsoft has introduced a new feature for urgent or important notifications that appear when Do Not Disturb is turned on. Now, when you use an app in full screen mode, you’ll see a “Show notification” button on the notification itself to improve privacy. Otherwise, see below for known changes and issues.

Repairs:
- A limit of 20 most recent tabs has been introduced under Settings > Multitasking to show tabs in ALT+TAB and Snap Assist.
- We’re introducing a new setting under Settings > Privacy & Security > For Developers to enable task termination when you right-click an app on the taskbar. This setting is in build 23430 but does not currently work when the feature is toggled on. It will be fixed on a future trip.
- Fixed an underlying issue that caused some Insiders to see an increase in explorer.exe crashes on the last two trips.
- Fixed an issue where text input features such as the touch keyboard, voice typing, and the emoji panel were not working.
- Fixed an issue where the buttons in the Pinyin IME settings popup could be difficult to see when focus if the contrast theme is enabled.
- Fixed an issue affecting the reliability of the Task Manager.
- The search box at the top should no longer be cropped when the window is maximized.
- Fixed an issue where Narrator in Quick Settings was reading the title of the previous page instead of the title of the active page.
- After downloading Voice Access, you should now open the information to help you start using it properly again.
- Fixed an issue where voice access popups were not translated correctly.
Known issues:
- There is an issue where some people may not see the search box on the taskbar and/or settings to adjust the search box experience on the taskbar after updating to Building 23403. We are aware of the issue and are working to fix it.
- If you have the Bing button in the search box on the taskbar and you restart your computer, you may see the search highlighted in daily rotation for some time before the Bing button is restored again.
- Access keys will appear inconsistently if no button is pressed. Pressing a button will make them appear again.
- [NEW] Shift + right-clicking a file or folder does not open Show More Options.
- Clicking the Share command will now bring up the Windows share sheet (not OneDrive).
- On ARM64 devices, enhanced speech recognition support installed through the Language and Region settings page will require a restart of live captions if you switch languages in the live caption language menu.
- Some languages that appear on the Language and Region settings page report support for speech recognition (for example, Korean) but do not yet have support for live annotations.
- When you add a language through the Language and Region settings page, the language feature installation progress may become hidden, and you may not see the Enhanced Speech Recognition installation complete (required by Live Captions). (You can use the language’s “Language Options” to monitor progress.) If this happens, there may be an unexpected delay before the live caption setting experience detects this and lets you continue.
- Subtitles may degrade performance in non-English languages and lose out-of-language filtering in languages other than English (US) which means that incorrect captions will be shown for speech not in the caption language.
Canary Canal (Building 25336)
On the Canary channel, Microsoft documented three changes. They have improved search performance within settings. They’ve also added the ability to choose which discrete graphics adapters are high-performance in your settings on computers with two or more discrete graphics adapters. Finally, a limit of 20 most recent tabs has been introduced under the multitasking settings.
Beta Channel (Build 22624.1546 and 22621.1546)
As usual, on the beta channel, there are two builds you can choose from for download. Build 22624.1546 is for those with new features rolled out and Build 22621.1546 is for those with new features turned off by default. Details here.
New build 22624.1546 features:
- Improved search performance within settings.
- Pressing the Print Screen key will now open the Snipping Tool by default. This setting can be turned off via Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard. If you previously modified this setting yourself, your preferences will be preserved.
- A limit of 20 most recent tabs has been introduced under Settings > Multitasking to show tabs in ALT+TAB and Snap Assist.
Build 22624.1546 fixes:
- Fixed an issue where text input features such as the touch keyboard, voice typing, and the emoji panel were not working.
- Fixed an issue where the buttons in the Pinyin IME settings popup could be difficult to see when focus if the contrast theme is enabled.
- Fixed an issue where some details on the Performance page were not displayed correctly until you resized the window or changed pages back and forth.
Known issues:
- If you have the Bing button in the search box on the taskbar and you restart your computer, you may see the search highlighted in daily rotation for some time before the Bing button is restored again.
- [NEW] Shift + right-clicking a file or folder does not open Show More Options.

- Subtitles may degrade performance in non-English languages and lose out-of-language filtering in languages other than English (US) which means that incorrect captions will be shown for speech not in the caption language.
That’s all there is to report this week. We apologize for the long post, but Microsoft decided not to unpack things this week and release all three builds at once. As always, you’ll find these builds for download on Windows Update. Get the download now!
