Let’s just entertain this guy edition 3 rumors, shall we?

Well, it’s been a long year so far for Remasters and Remakes, right? From Metroid Prime to Resident Evil 4, there’s been no shortage of game overdrive, and it doesn’t look like this snowball will be slowing down anytime soon. In fact, it’s shaping into a full blue avalanche in the form of Persona 3. According to some leaked 3D gameplay footage (which has already been deleted as of this writing) and juicy, juicy guesses from popular gaming site Gematsu, we may be in store for what appears to be The biggest change to the Persona series since… well, since the last shake up just a few months ago.

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAYScroll to continue with the content

The word on the digital streets is that not only has Atlus been surreptitiously working on a Persona 3 remake, but it’s been doing it for years right under our noses! Now, understand that none of this has been officially confirmed…but an assumption doesn’t hurt, right?

Why, it seems to me just yesterday that I was knee-deep at the grubs, greaves, and bowls of Hagakure ramen in Atlus’ awesome Persona 3 Portable Remaster. My thoughts reflect the same love we at DualShockers have for Persona 3, especially Mohamed Hassan, who is a poignant prescient for days. Obviously, the bar can’t be set any higher, right? The idea of reproducing at the same time fills me with excitement and, on the contrary, produces a little anxiety. What are the latest new additions that will include? But more importantly, what are they going to throw at?

Persona 3 - Ramen

Ask any fan, and they’ll tell you that it was Persona 3 that broke the mold and set the series on the inevitable path to Persona 5 Royale, which, sadly, I haven’t played yet (I know, right?). However, Persona 3 has a lot to love on its own, and it maintains even more than that faint Temper flashier than her siblings. It’s by no means an issue, but the story keeps death and loss at the fore. It’s a heavier plot that perhaps calls into question the game’s blue motif. However, aside from the general theme, there are two disparate elements in the world of Persona 3 that can only be decisively and successfully combined in the remake.

Years after Persona 3’s initial release in 2006, an epilogue titled The Answer was included, giving eager gamers an additional 30 hours of gameplay related to the battle ordeal of the android Aigis. It wasn’t just a reunion with the old gang, it was an eloquent way of tying up loose ends left by the first round of Persona 3. However, for some strange reason, Atlus didn’t include The Answer in the Persona 3 portable remaster. Really strange. Moving to the year 2023, P3P Remaster gives you the option to play as Kotone Shiomi, aka FeMC, a progressive heroine absent in the original game, who has opened up a world of previously unheard of possibilities, most notably in the game’s flipped social connections.

The Answer and Kotone Shiomi exist separately from each other, yet both are still an important part of the Persona 3 experience, even though they are years apart from their first appearances. Should a remake really happen, it is to be expected that these stray elements will be brought into the fold of what appears to be a truly complete version of the game.

Persona 3 - Yukari remake

Turning to the graphics, the moments stolen from the video reel, especially Yukari’s action sequences, make it clear that Atlus’ plans include breaking Persona 3 straight out of its 2D confines and into the expansive world of 3D. Now, I may not have played Persona 5, but I sure as hell have seen the gameplay, and me, how far the series has come! According to some trusted experts here at DualShockers, Persona 5 appears to be the perfect Persona installment – a perfect JRPG – with a delicate balance of memorable dungeon crawling, social connections, and overall gameplay. Given the success of Persona 5, perhaps Atlus is trying to bring Persona 3 out of its restrictive confines and give it new life through the same 3D filters that made Persona 5 such a smasher. Again, basic speculation.

Well, now that the easier, more realistic aspects of Persona 3 are out of the way, it’s time to get out into the ether for a bit. Reddit and Twitter are all alive with hopes and wishes for what we’d like to see happen, but based on what we know about the game itself, here’s what a potential remake could entail.

For one, that could mean a diminution or a complete remake of the grueling dungeon crawling in Persona 3 Tartaros. Apparently Atlus realized that a small change of scenery goes a long way by including ten separate dungeons of different styles and bosses in Persona 4 (but it could still give us more room to explore!) which already does wonders compared to Persona 3. Once. Other than that, I haven’t played Persona 5, but I have Owns He spent hours, maybe days, wandering the tower of Tartaros in Persona 3 High School which had turned into a monotonous monster tower. Perhaps a 3D facelift and a series of studio tweaks could make the game’s dungeon crawling either cooler, or at least, more tolerable.

Persona 3 - FeMC

Aside from Persona 3’s dungeons, relationships are a bit of a problem. The requirements for earning social links seem dramatically short compared to recent entries, and unfortunately, they don’t quite go in depth. Truth be told, it was fairly easy to game the system and win peers over to my side—especially female colleagues—with minimal effort. The remake can enhance the criteria needed to earn Arcanas, as well as potentially create a more challenging dialogue and quests to complete in order to earn the trust/love of fellows.

Whatever the outcome, me and thousands, nay, Millions Hardcore gamers will probably be happy with the latest version of Persona 3 without much pressure or rioting in the streets. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter what Atlus comes up with, as long as the Persona 3’s soundtrack remains the same And I can still find a spot at Iwatodai Station’s Beef Bowl joint.
