“Yeah, we really liked each other and there was an attraction,” she also said in her autobiography Don’t Stop Believing.

He said, “I think you saw that in You’re the One I Want. There’s almost a solution to that tension there.”

The song reveals Sandy in her new incarnation as a confident and sexy man-eater after make-up from the Pink Ladies. When I asked, “Tell me about it, Stud,” Danny and most of the audience, understandably, gushed for the stunning new look.

But what really happened behind the scenes? what about that Kiss Filmed at Paramount Studios After Party? And what appears on camera in 2018?

What fans didn’t know at the time was that there was actually a rather passionate kiss on camera. Director Randall Kleiser filmed a slightly different version of the ending that he wasn’t able to use but it was finally revealed in 2018. In this movie, as they fly away, Sandy and Danny are embracing.

Co-star Dead Conn, who played Frenchie, revealed that the kiss was very real and not scripted: “You see for a moment that she’s surprised and then you respond. It’s sexy and sweet. They weren’t acting in that moment, it was like he had the chance and he was going to take it. It was For real, it really was.”

Sweet kisses on screen and at parties aside, both stars have always denied anything beyond mutual attraction and developed into the deep friendship they maintain to this day. Newton-John opened up about her work in 2018 and explained why she’s glad they never acted on their passion: “We were together with other people when we were filming and I think, respectfully, that didn’t happen.”

Still with her manager boyfriend, Lee Kramer, she was in a turbulent relationship that would end by 1979. Travolta was with actress Diana Hyland, who was battling breast cancer and would die in March 1977.

Added Newton-John: “I think it was good because I think it kept the tension there and the chemistry. It might have been a real disaster if we had decided to date or had a falling out or something. So I think it was just a plus that it didn’t happen. But we didn’t. We are still great friends.

“The truth is, she never got over friendship with John despite the fact that fans wanted us to become a couple in real life. We left that up to Sandy and Danny, but the deep sense of brotherly love I have for John continues to this day.”

In her autobiography Don’t Stop Believing, Newton-John explained: “We would never date because we were involved with other people at the time, and we both have a deep loyalty streak.”
