How to build Legendary Pokemon Wu Xin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Pokemon scarlet and violet Share a rich background story available to those who follow the history classes available at Uva and Narania Academy. Of note is the tale of a group of ruined panels. These tablets were owned by a greedy king, and the evil deeds of the king were inscribed on them. The negative energy surrounding these panels merged and became consciousness, thus giving birth to a terrible scourge that destroyed the kingdom overnight. This pest was none other than Wo-Chien, an ingot made of dead leaves whose shell consists of the highly destructive plates that give it shape.

Wo-Chien is a dark and grass-type Pokemon with the ability to Ruin Tablets. Ruin discs passively lower the attack stat of all other Pokemon in the field. Wo-Chien, like the formidable Ting-Lu, is one of Ruin’s more defense-oriented Treasures, boasting great Special Defense (135 base), good Defense (100 base) and otherwise average stats. As you might expect from a snail, Wo-Chien is rather slow at 70 base speed, at least compared to many of his legendary classmates. Sadly, she’s considered the worst among Ruin’s Treasures due to a combination of poorly distributed stats, bad defensive writing, and a general lack of moves at her disposal. However, some interesting and effective builds can be created for this.

Wu Xin’s weaknesses

Scissor, Rhyperior, and the eldest all use bug-type attacks in their Pokemon

Writing Wo-Chien’s Dark and Grass is certainly unfortunate. While it grants the Pokemon six resistances and immunity to powerful psychic moves, mix Wo-Chien is left stranded with six weaknesses to common attack types and a devastating weakness to the Bug type. The Bug has made an amazing resurgence in the past few generations, with major players like Scizor, Lokix, and Volcarona dominating competitive play. Even worse, moves like U-Turn and First Impression are distributed more widely than ever, turning weak Pokemon into Wo-Chien’s STAB group into potential threats.

Wu Xin’s strengths

Wo-Chien, unfortunately, is sorely lacking in the crime department. Even if it can withstand its opponents’ attacks, Wo-Chien’s apparent medium attack (Rule 85) and Special Attack (Rule 95) make it difficult to counter for meaningful damage. However, Wo-Chien does receive some useful gadgets in Leaf Storm, Power Whip, Knock Off, and Ruination, all of which are massive STAB options that can give Wo-Chien some measure of utility.

He also learns a fair amount of drying moves, such as the priceless Giga Drain and Leech Seed moves. This gives Wo-Chien tremendous longevity, and is possibly some of the best among the Treasures of Ruin. She can happily take down enemies that don’t threaten her much, but it can take her some time to do so.

We’ve had a look at Wo-Chien, now let’s see if we can make it work.

Wu Xin: Leftovers

  • capacity: ruin tablets
  • electric vehicles: 252 hp / 4 weak points / 252 top speed
  • Terra type: poison
  • nature: Cautious / rude
  • Moves:
  • Stop working or be killed
  • leech seed
  • Protect
  • ruined / giga drain / replacement

This build cements Wo-Chien as a solid defensive option at lower levels of competitive play, where it performs best. Knock Off is an important tool, allowing you to stop potential threats from setting up, such as Talonflame or Salamence, who rely on Heavy-Duty Boots to run safely on Stealth Rock. Protect and Leech Seed will damage chips over time while also healing Wo-Chien, an effect that can be supplemented by Giga Drain. At the same time, Sabotage is good for getting rid of larger targets that might be able to deal Leech Seed damage over time. It will protect the swing from status moves, as well as give the Pokemon a free hit to take whenever it needs a break.

Wu Xin: RestTalk remains

  • capacity: ruin tablets
  • electric vehicles: 252 hp / 4 atc / 252 top speed
  • Terra type: ghost / cm
  • nature: shameless
  • Moves:
  • Stop working or be killed
  • Bad game
  • break
  • sleep talk

Sleep Talk and Rest is a tried and true formula, and it works just as it always does on Wo-Chien. Knock Off will remove the item held by your opponent, and Foul Play can deal with powerful threats that can do great damage. When a legendary snail needs some healing, the player can tap Rest and then use Sleep Talk to (hopefully) choose one of the two attacking moves. The move will be randomly selected, however, keep that in mind. One such motion is rest itself, which will fail if the user is already asleep. RestTalk can work well, but, as always, is subject to the whims of the RNG.

Wu Xin: Ubers leftovers

  • capacity: ruin tablets
  • electric vehicles: 252 hp / 4 weak points / 252 top speed
  • Terra type: water
  • nature: to caution
  • Moves:
  • Stop working or be killed
  • leech seed
  • Protect
  • Power Web/tnt

Although Wo-Chien finds it difficult to work alongside fellow Legendary Pokemon in the Ubers class, that certainly doesn’t mean he can’t try. Wo-Chien’s Tera Water-type will help Wo-Chien resist Ice-type attacks from the Iron Bundle and Chien-Pao (but watch out for the Iron Bundle’s Freeze-Dry), as well as give her resistance to Koraidon’s Fire-type attacks that would normally proves to be a threat. Wo-Chien’s Power Whip can deal a decent amount of damage, although it probably doesn’t at this level of play. Meanwhile, taunts can put a limit on stat moves, allowing the user to destroy a few hits. Leftovers will, as always, provide a passive remedy to keep Wo-Chien healthy.
