JSAUX has been keeping very busy producing a variety of different accessories for the Steam Deck. But perhaps the most well-known and unique product when it comes to customization is the Steam Deck translucent backboards which now come in a variety of different colors. While having a transparent back panel is great, having a fully transparent case is what will really get most people’s engines running. Luckily, it looks like JSAUX is gearing up to release a transparent front cover replacement for the Steam Deck sometime in the future, and it’s given us a glimpse of what’s to come.

news come from subreddit for JSAUX, showing an image of a new Steam Deck product that the company claims will “make your Steam Deck cooler.” While the product is not in the teaser photo, we do see a kit that looks like it has a lot of parts and tools. If that wasn’t enough, we get an exclusive photo from Exaggerate Website showing Steam Deck’s upcoming clear front shell replacement in three colors. For the most part, this thing looks amazing, and it will easily become one of the best Steam Deck accessories released this year.
But it looks like JSAUX won’t be alone in offering transparent shell alternatives, as eXtremeRate has also shared its offerings with the publication as well. While this would certainly be a nice Steam Deck mod, it wouldn’t be as easy a swap as a replacement backboard. As noted before ExaggerateThis front replacement will require a bit more time and patience when it comes to installation, as the iFixit website gives an estimate of about three to five hours for the job. If you’ve never looked at what it takes, now might be the time Prepare for the process.
Thankfully, you’ll have some time to consider whether the replacement effort is worth it, since JSAUX hasn’t revealed when this unit will come out or how much it will cost.
