KTRK-TV, the Disney television station located in Houston, Texas is seeking an aggressive, motivated and dedicated newscast producer to oversee all elements of the daily television newscast. Our newscast producer must create complex, compelling and interesting newscasts in a highly competitive, high pressure environment. The successful candidate must be active on social media and understand how to leverage those platforms for stories. Producers should work well with reporters, reporters, assignment editors, writers, directors, and graphic artists. Candidates for this position must have a passion for production, and must aspire to management positions later in their career.
Responsibilities:
Drafting daily newscasts and managing all aspects of broadcasting
Story ideas on a daily basis
Communicate well with others in the newsroom when creating offers
Collaborate with digital team members throughout the day
Write clear and compelling broadcast copy
Implement last minute changes in high pressure situations
Basic qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have best to market production experience at a local news station
Demonstrated ability to work under deadline pressure and work in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with strong editorial and production skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be flexible with working hours (late nights, overnights, weekends and holidays) and subject to change.
Required education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred education:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, or a related field
