Charlotte, Nick — A plane made an unusual landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Wednesday morning when the landing gear failed to operate properly.
Delta Airlines has confirmed that Flight 1092, a Boeing 717 flying from Atlanta to Charlotte, had two pilots, three flight attendants and 96 passengers on board.
The landing gear at the nose of the aircraft failed to deploy, but the pilots were still able to land the aircraft safely.
Passengers and crew members left the aircraft through the chutes and were taken to the terminal on a bus.
“The crew told us there was a problem with the landing gear and told us to see the safety information,” said a passenger on the flight. Delta Airlines issued the following statement:
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and employees,” Delta said in a statement. “While this is a rare occurrence, Delta Air Crews are extensively trained to safely manage through many scenarios, and Flight 1092 landed safely with no injuries reported. Our next focus is the care of our customers on this flight, including retrieving their bags and seeing them to their final destinations safely. We apologize to our customers for what they have suffered.”
