The series started out as a competitor to Grand Theft Auto, but quickly found its identity as something quirkier and more extreme, almost as a parody of the Rockstar franchise. This was the only way they could be competitive and it worked. The series has grown into something more than a simple story about climbing the criminal ladder, eventually becoming a boss, getting superpowers, fighting aliens, going to Hell, and much more. It was ridiculous, but it was ridiculous that Volition had no choice but to go back to basics when they decided to have a fifth game.

However, the saints row The reboot got mixed reviews and fans really ripped it off for not being what they wanted it to be. To Volition’s credit, they stuck with the game and continued to update it, bringing major gameplay fixes and improvements. We’ve also seen a roadmap with upcoming updates and expansions, one of which has already been released. Now, we know when the second expansion will be released. saints row It’s getting a new DLC on July 6th called Doc Ketchum’s Murder Circus that includes a brand new “replay mode,” which seems to indicate that it might be some sort of horde mode for players. Killing Circus certainly sounds like something that would feature crowd mode, so we’ll have to see exactly what that looks like.

As of now, it remains to be seen how good this new expansion will be. There will also be a third and final expansion in August, though details on that are scarce. It’s not clear if there will be more Saints Row games anytime soon after this one. This reboot didn’t wow critics or move the needle commercially, so it may be back on the ice.
