Threads has one of the worst new Twitter features

Threads are criticized for having one of the worst features of Twitter. Thread is a brand new social media app that acts as a direct competitor to Twitter. The app comes from Meta as an extension for Instagram and has been highly praised for being a great and worthy alternative to Twitter. Still, it’s pretty abstract. Despite the fact that it has nearly 100 million users in less than a week, many people have criticized it for lacking the basic features of social media apps. There is no direct message ability, no hashtags can be posted, and much more. It does have some nice features like integration with Instagram allowing you to keep track of your followers, profile etc, but this is only really useful when starting out with topics.

With that said, Threads handles some flopping for another feature. The app has what’s called “price caps,” a feature that social media users have become very familiar with in the past week. Pricing caps are basically a way for an app or website to limit requests (such as refreshing a page) to prevent DDoS attacks, bots, and more. It’s an inherently good thing and something you rarely come across. However, Twitter made it look like an enemy to a lot of users after it limited the number of tweets people could view in a day with rate caps. After people hit the very small limit, they weren’t immediately able to upload new tweets and instead saw “rate limit exceeded” over and over until finally Twitter lifted the issue.

Now, thread users see it on this app and fear the worst. It appears to be a very small and temporary issue and not as widespread as the Twitter issue. However, given the mess Twitter has caused, many will likely have some flashbacks to last weekend when this all began and panicked slightly at the prospect of this happening again.
