Payday 3: How To Perform Takedown

Payday 3 always rewards players if they actually have a plan. No matter if you want to go in guns blazing or take the sneaky path from the back doors, if you do your job based on a plan, you will get the results you want. In between, Payday 3 has added a bunch of new features that add to the complexity of stealth mechanics.

To be honest, completing missions in a stealthy way is really tough, especially if you decide to do it on your own in a solo run. It’s always difficult to pick the right time to blow your cover, but sometimes you really don’t have a better option. So, if you really need to eliminate someone in the heist, here is how to do it quietly.

How To Perform Takedown

Let’s make it clear right off the bat that there is no way you can perform a Takedown without putting your mask on. And, as you may already know, once you put your mask on, you cannot take it off. You should always keep in mind that this is a price you must pay for taking someone down quietly.

Now, moving over to the takedown process, you should sneak behind your target, put your mask on, press F to grab them as a shield, and then hold F to take them down. If the target is a guard, you need to answer their radio after taking them down. For doing so, you will get a prompt after taking the guard down to carry their body, and after that, you will get a prompt to answer the radio. If you don’t do this, the other guards will become suspicious.

We strongly suggest you play the Crowd Control tutorial in Payday 3 if you want to learn the basics of Takedown in action before trying it in a real heist.

Although taking down in this way will not blow your cover – as long as you do it in a place where no one’s watching and no camera is capturing your actions – the mask that you wear now will easily blow your cover. So, the stealth will simply become stricter as anyone who sees you with the mask on will report to guards and eventually trigger the alarm.

As a result, we do suggest you use the Takedown option when you are in the final steps of your stealth mission and are not required to pass through any crowded area in the game. In the No Rest For The Wicked heist, for example, the game asks you to put on the mask in the final step where you are required to grab an executive and open the safe.

That being said, if you are playing with friends, takedown is a great option as someone could stop sneaking further by taking down a key enemy while the other teammate can continue the stealth job without blowing their cover.
