Cyberpunk 2077: Best Tech Weapons, Ranked

For all its beauty and charm, the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is ultimately a hive of scum and villainy where danger lurks around every corner. Luckily, you’ve got plenty of gear, cyberware upgrades, and of course weapons to even the odds in your favor while roaming the streets of Night City. Among other things, this also includes Tech weapons.

Tech weapons are pretty interesting in that they come with an alternative firing mode that allows them to penetrate walls and other types of cover. Similar to the lock-on time found on Smart weapons, Tech weapons have a charge time of around one second. Tech weapons need to be charged in ADS before you can use their special feature, otherwise, they work just like regular Power weapons. Keep reading to find out which are the best Tech weapons in Cyberpunk 2077 as of Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty.

10 Scorch

Underwhelming Passives But Otherwise A Good Starter Tech Pistol

Cyberpunk 2077 best tech weapons - Scorch

Just in case the name didn’t already give it away, Scorch is a Tech pistol that can set enemies ablaze. The Burn chance is only 20%, but the weapon fires in bursts of three rounds, so you’re more likely than not to see the effect in action. Stats-wise, Scorch isn’t very impressive compared to other Tech pistols, but it does have good range and handling along with a reasonably short charge time.

Charging Scorch allows you to shoot three projectiles, which is only mildly better than using the regular burst, hence why the weapon is so far down this list. There is an additional effect that replenishes ammo spent on enemies affected by Burn, however, this only works with fully charged shots. This isn’t the most useful passive either. Even though this is a pretty good pistol all things considered, the passives and some of the stats prevent it from reaching its full potential.

9 Lizzie

Ammo-Efficient Tech Pistol That’s Dragged Down By Its Short Range

Cyberpunk 2077 best tech weapons - Lizzie

Lizzie is a Tech pistol that fires four projectiles at once with each pull of the trigger. However, each shot only drains a single round, so there’s no need to worry about having to reach for a fresh magazine every couple of seconds. When fully charged, Lizzie fires in quick bursts that deal a lot of damage, provided you’re good at controlling the weapon’s recoil.

Lizzie comes with a bland passive effect that increases the number of rounds fired per shot. It’s not the worst effect out there, but it’s nothing to write home about either. Luckily, the pistol also features an open mod slot that gives you the option to improve the Lizzie in a number of ways. Given that the weapon’s main drawback is its short range, we recommend going with a mod like the Handyman.

8 Gris-Gris

Somewhat Underwhelming Stats But Comes WIth A Powerful Passive

Cyberpunk 2077 best Tech weapons - Gris-Gris

Gris-Gris is a Tech revolver that’s a bit unwieldy and shakes your camera every time you take a shot. While annoying at times, the weapon makes up for it by offering good damage and a full auto mode that becomes active when Gris-Gris is fully charged. Ironically, the gun is a lot more stable in ADS than when fired from the hip. The full auto mode is slow at first, but gradually ramps up as you expand more energy.

So far, Gris-Gris might not seem like a better choice than either Scorch or Lizzie, but you’ll quickly change your mind once you learn about its unique passive effect. Every time you hit an enemy with this weapon, you have a chance to upload a random Quickhack. The chance is based on the strength of the Quickhack, so don’t expect to upload some of the best Quickhacks in Cyberpunk 2077 all that often, but it will happen on occasion. In addition to that, Gris-Gris can also be customized with a scope of your choice.

7 Chaos

Fun RNG-Based Passive But Sometimes Unreliable

Cyberpunk 2077 best Tech weapons -Chaos

Chaos is an aptly named Tech pistol with excellent handling, short reload speed, and an even shorter charge time. You have a higher-than-usual chance of applying Bleed while wielding this weapon, but that effect isn’t permanent. Unlike most other Tech weapons, Chaos doesn’t receive a ton of benefits when fully charged. The two-round burst firing mode won’t change regardless of whether you charge the weapon or not and the accuracy boost is only mildly helpful.

Despite everything we just mentioned, Chaos still deserves your attention because of its unique passive that randomizes crit chance, damage type, and status-effect application after each reload. The initial 10% Bleed chance can easily turn into 70% Burn chance, 100% Shock chance, or something else the next time you reload. Sometimes the buffs are incredible, sometimes they’re just kind of there. Needless to say, this effect makes the weapon less reliable than most, but it does make it more fun. Meanwhile, the open mod slot allows for some much-needed customization.

6 Ambition

Best Tech Pistol In The Game

Cyberpunk 2077 best Tech weapons - Ambition

Ambition is another Tech pistol that’s pretty similar to Chaos in terms of raw stats. Chaos has slightly better damage and reload speed, but Ambition has better range and handling. Even the firing modes and most of the passive effects are identical. Distinguishing between these two pistols wasn’t easy, but we ultimately had to give Ambition the higher spot because of its unique passive effect.

Ambition has a special effect that gives it a chance to apply Blind with each shot. Blind is a status effect that does pretty much what it says on the tin. Enemies affected by Blind can’t see or attack and they start moving erratically. Enemies affected by Blind also take increased headshot damage from Ambition. Even though we’re big fans of Chaos, Ambition is an overall more useful weapon, not to mention a more reliable one.

5 Rasetsu

Great Range And Damage But Slow Speed

Cyberpunk 2077 best Tech weapons - Rasetsu

Rasetsu is a Tech sniper rifle that hits like a beast, but has the lowest attack speed out of any weapon on this list. All in all, that’s a pretty fair trade-off since all you need with a weapon like this is one well-placed shot. Especially considering this bad boy has a 300% headshot damage multiplier. If you don’t manage to take out your target with the first shot, don’t worry because you can fire Rasetsu three times before you need to reach for a fresh magazine.

Taking advantage of Rasetsu’s unique passive effect can prove difficult, but very satisfying once you manage to wrap your head around how it works. Charged rounds fired by this weapon penetrate through enemies and then bend their trajectory to hit additional targets. This works somewhat similarly to the auto-targeting system found on Smart weapons, but requires more planning since you won’t have any direct control over who the rifle hits.

4 Raiju

Best Tech SMG In The Game

Cyberpunk 2077 best Tech weapons - Raiju

Raiju is hands-down the best Tech submachine gun in Cyberpunk 2077, and not by a small margin either. This is the fastest weapon on this list and also the easiest one to handle. The ADS view looks a bit scuffed, but won’t bother you too much once you get used to it. Raiju shoots five-round bursts when fired from the hip and can be charged to activate a full-auto mode. The magazine only holds 30 rounds and dries out quickly in full-auto, but that’s not a huge issue as the weapon only takes about one second to reload.

A pretty unique feature of this Tech SMG is that it can punch through cover and obstacles without being charged. Normally, that feature can only be found on heavy-duty weapons like sniper rifles. Granted, the full-auto mode is so good that you’ll almost always want to charge the weapon, but it’s nice to know that you can penetrate cover even if you don’t. Raiju also comes with a secondary passive effect that increases critical chance when landing headshots and has a permanent +33% critical damage bonus.

3 Comrade’s Hammer

Highest Damage Output But Can’t Penetrate Through Cover

Cyberpunk 2077 best Tech weapons - Comrade's Hammer

Comrade’s Hammer is essentially a miniaturized rocket launcher. Though technically a Tech revolver, the weapon works more like a hand cannon and is capable of causing utter devastation. Comrade’s Hammer deals more damage than any other Tech weapon on this list, including Rasetsu, but the downside is that it can only be fired once before requiring a reload. The weapon reloads automatically when you perform a quick melee attack, however, you should probably avoid using the Comrade’s Hammer in close-quarter because you can easily get caught in its projectile’s blast radius.

In addition to dealing a metric ton of damage, Comrade’s Hammer comes with a number of buffs that make it even deadlier. These include +75% armor penetration, +50% critical damage, and +40% Burn chance. On the flipside, Comrade’s Hammer can’t penetrate cover, which is highly unusual for a Tech weapon. The only reason why this revolver is even classified as a Tech weapon is because it can be charged to deal even more damage, but otherwise, Comrade’s Hammer works more like a Power weapon than anything else.

2 Widow Maker

Best Tech Precision Rifle In The Game

Cyberpunk 2077 best Tech weapons - Widow Maker

Widow Maker is a Tech precision rifle that acts somewhat like a cross between a shotgun and a sniper rifle. The weapon riddles enemies with projectiles when fired from the hip and even though it has significant range, it quickly loses accuracy unless you’re fighting in close quarters. Accuracy gets marginally better in ADS, but this is still a close-to-medium-range weapon despite what the stats card would have you believe. The good news is that it outperforms most weapons in the game in that department.

Charging the weapon won’t change Widow Maker’s firing mode, but it will allow you to deal more damage with the rifle. Thanks to the +50% armor penetration and +20% Poison chance, you can expect to wreak a lot of havoc when fighting both organic and mechanical enemies. Similar to other Tech weapons, Widow Maker also deals Electrical damage, so you’ve got almost all your bases covered there.

1 Breakthrough

Best Overall Tech Weapon In The Game

Cyberpunk 2077 best Tech weapons - Breakthrough

And the title of best Tech weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 goes to Breakthrough. This is an extremely powerful sniper rifle that can take out most enemies in one shot. Breakthrough does a bit less damage than Rasetsu but comes with 100% armor penetration, which can be more valuable depending on what sort of enemies you’re fighting against. Combine that with the +300% headshot damage multiplier and you’ll find that few enemies can withstand even a single round fired by this weapon, provided it was placed correctly, of course.

A pretty unique feature of this sniper rifle is that it can be charged from hip fire, removing the need to slow down and enter ADS. You don’t necessarily need to charge the weapon to punch through cover, but doing so anyway has multiple advantages. Charging the weapon increases its damage and makes your shots a lot more accurate thanks to the scope. In addition, bullets ricochet off surfaces when the weapon is charged and can hit multiple enemies past their initial target.
