Is Bethesda ‘Clapping Back’ at Negative Starfield Reviews?

Bethesda is following up on negative Starfield reviews on Steam, here’s why.

Highlights

  • Starfield received “Mixed” reviews on Steam despite being a highly anticipated game and the first new IP from Bethesda in 25 years.
  • Bethesda is addressing negative reviews and their complaints, which is not a common approach taken by AAA developers.
  • Peter Hunt Szpytek discusses with Cristian Macias why Bethesda may be doing this and whether it’s a good idea.

Starfield was one of the biggest games of 2023 as the first new IP out of Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years. Despite its success, the game has “Mixed” reviews on Steam out of over 80,000 user reviews and Bethesda has started commenting on some of the more negative reviews addressing the review’s complaints.
