One aspect of being Na’vi is hunting the creatures of the land, but in a more unique way than seen in other games. While finding and killing wildlife is at the center of hunting, players will be judged and rewarded based on how they do it.
Getting A Clean & Merciful Kill
Players are judged on how they kill an animal when hunting, with how quickly they take the animal down and how they go about doing it. The easiest and most effective way to get a clean and merciful kill is to kill a beast with a single shot to the weak point using a Na’vi weapon, the best being the Heavy Bow. Clean refers to how many attacks it took to bring the beast down; the fewer arrows used, the better. Merciful refers to how the creature spent its last few moments alive, either grazing peacefully or fighting for its life.
To locate a creature’s weak point, highlight them with the Na’Vi sense, with a small portion of the creature’s body being left highlighted gold for a short time after. This gold section is the creature’s weak point, and only hitting it is the key to getting a clean kill. It’s also important to only use Na’vi weapons like bows or spears, as any human gun or explosive weapon will result in an unclean and unmerciful kill.
Stealth is also a major factor when hunting, as animals react to the character’s presence and will either flee or attack, making a clean kill much more difficult. Stay in stealth the entire time, from approaching a creature to lining up and taking a shot, while also avoiding other creatures or plants that may react to the character getting too close.

While hunting, your Na’vi senses will be key to locating creatures, identifying them, and mercifully killing them. Using Na’vi senses, players will be able to find and follow scent trails that can reliably lead players to the location of nearby wildlife to kill. Further utilizing the Na’vi senses will also identify the weak point of the creature upon finding it.
In Na’vi sense, players can inspect a creature to pull up its page in the Hunter’s Guide. This will give some general information about the creature, including where it can be found, how it will act when attacked, and the possible loot drops from killing it.
