How Do You Unlock Hard Mode In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

If you’re looking for an immediate challenge, you’ll likely have to settle for the game’s Dynamic Difficulty option. However, you will be able to unlock a genuine Hard Mode down the line. Once you have completed the game’s main story, you will unlock the ability to play everything again with Hard Mode selected. While this isn’t quite as simple as jumping into a traditional New Game Plus, there is a bit of cool flexibility. If you want to pursue Hard Mode, you’ll want to go to the main menu’s chapter select. Once you select the chapter you wish to replay, you’ll be given the option to play in Hard Mode.

If you choose to play a chapter in Hard Mode, just know that any unresolved side quests in progress will reset.

What Does Hard Mode Do In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

The game has some interesting ways to increase difficulty beyond just throwing stronger enemies at you. Here is what you can expect from the game’s Hard Mode:

  • Levels, Materia, weapons, and stats all carry over
  • Enemies can and will become more difficult to handle
  • You won’t have access to any of your items during the chapter
  • Rest Stops will refill your HP, but they will not refill your MP

Complete every main chapter on Hard Mode, and you’ll unlock the Of Hardy Stock trophy for your efforts!
