What Is The Gold Saucer Date?
During Chapter 8, you will reach the Gold Saucer and have a chance to go on a mini-date with whoever Cloud is closest to. While this is a cute sentiment, this article focuses on the main Gold Saucer date, which takes place later on in the game during Chapter 12. During this time, Cloud will end up going around the Gold Saucer with one of his party members and will end up going on the penultimate date with this person. This date includes a cute trip on the Skywheel and an interesting interaction with the date.
All Gold Saucer Date Variations
There are six different people (or groups of people) Cloud can go on a date with. They are the following characters:
While Aerith and Tifa’s Gold Saucer date can be romantic, Cloud’s Gold Saucer date with Yuffie is like an older brother taking his annoying little sister out for a fun night. The rest of the Gold Saucer dates are basically Cloud hanging out with the boys. No matter which Gold Saucer date you get, you’ll be treated to an interesting night with some of the people Cloud holds closest.
How To Check Who You Will Go On The Gold Saucer Date With
While there is no guarantee of knowing who you will go on the date with, you can always check your affinity with each character. To do this, all you need to do is hit L1 while not in battle. This will show a small face above the characters’ heads. The color and face represent how well they like you.
You can also check who likes you the most by seeing who you go on the mini-date with in Chapter 8. While the person who you go on a date with in Chapter 8 can be the person you go with in Chapter 12, this isn’t always the case.
You can replay all the Gold Saucer dates after beating the game. This way, you won’t need to complete the game to see them all.
How To Raise Affinity With Characters
There are a few ways to raise affinity with your party members.
- Completing quests with the character
- Having conversations with the character
- Using Synergy Skills with the character
- Completing certain events with the character
Spoiler Warning: The rest of this article contains details about each of the Gold Saucer dates and some information that may be considered spoilers for the ending.
Aerith Gold Saucer Date
Aerith Gold Saucer date is definitely the deepest one (besides Tifa’s), and is one of the best variations of the date. On this date, if your intimacy is high enough with her, Aerith opens up to Cloud about wanting to be with him. Throughout the date, it is obvious that Aerith is dealing with a lot of emotions. You can tell that she loves Zack Fair, but she also loves Cloud. While she does talk about how much he reminds her of Zack, she also notes that she realized she wants to be with Cloud for Cloud. The date ends with Aerith resting her head on Cloud pulling her hand away and wrapping his around it.
Tifa Gold Saucer Date
Tifa’s Gold Saucer date is definitely the version that got the biggest upgrade. If your relationship with her is high enough, the two of you will go on the date together and have a romantic moment. While the two will awkwardly discuss the past, to begin with, Tifa will eventually work up the nerve to tell Cloud that she truly cannot name a time that she has ever felt the way she does at that moment. She then begins to doubt that Cloud feels the same way before he embraces her, eventually leaning in for a kiss. This is the only Gold Saucer date that you can get that ends in any sort of admittance of love or the beginning of a relationship.
Tifa And Aerith Are The Heart And Soul Of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
The pair elevate the narrative into something more nuanced.
Yuffie Gold Saucer Date
Yuffie’s Gold Saucer date is a cute one. The young girl will spend most of the time being her awkwardly abrasive self. She is a lot like Cloud in that she struggles with admitting feelings. Surprisingly, this date is a lot like an older brother showing his little sister how life works. She tells Cloud about a guy she once liked and how he never saw her as anything more than just a little kid. He comes back and says that she should let the guy have it the next time she sees him. They will then begin to go back and forth in a fake fight before Yuffie, being just like an annoying little sister, hits him for real, causing Cloud to fall down.
Barret Gold Saucer Date
While the Gold Saucer date with Barrett in the original Final Fantasy 7 game was an awkward experience, this version is changed for the better. Just like how Cloud is an older brother figure for Yuffie, Barret is that figure for Cloud. This date shows the two getting pretty deep, talking about life and how things could be different. Barret offers Cloud advice, telling him that if he truly loves someone (Aerith or Tifa, it isn’t confirmed), then he needs to let them know before it is too late.
Red XIII Gold Saucer Date
Red XIII’s date is a lot of what you would expect, but it also gets extremely deep as well. Considering Red XIII is some sort of wold/lion hybrid, it isn’t surprising to hear that he spends a good portion of the date running around the Skywheel, looking at all the fireworks around him. Red XIII’s date offers some important information for explaining the events of Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. You learn that he and Aerith were both able to see the future thanks to the Whispers and alludes to Aerith’s eventual demise.
Vincent, Cait Sith, &Cid Gold Saucer Date
This Gold Saucer date truly is how I imagine nights with the boys happening. It is the new version of Barret’s date from the original game, and it seems it can only be seen after beating the game. In it, Cait Sith (that friend who never grew up) excitedly looks around at all the fireworks and lights while the rest of the guys sit there looking miserable. Vincent (the hardworking friend) falls asleep halfway through their ride, Cid (the grumpy friend) complains the entire time, and Cloud (the awkward one) just sits there awkwardly, taking the entire event in. It is definitely worth watching, and is probably funnier than the original one with Barret.
