While wearing the heaviest armor available, Fighters can fight with either swords or maces. Swords deal slashing damage, while maces deal strike damage, with both being viable options as various enemies can block either damage type. Even early in the game, there are multiple great options when picking a Fighter’s weapon.

Augments are passive buffs that will be unlocked with every few ranks of the Vocation. For Fighter, some of these buffs revolve around increasing carry capacity and physical defense, while others aren’t as helpful, so it’s important to pick which one is best.

Weapon Skills can be unlocked and upgraded using DCP at the Vocation Guild. While only four skills can be equipped at a time, the right ones can be equipped to help a Fighter handle situations they are otherwise unequipped for.

With Fighters being one of the first Vocations players can choose, it’s easy to rank up quickly in the game, giving players a high-ranking vocation to choose from for difficult battles or quests. Fighters wear heavy armor, so it’s important to increase the character’s carry capacity to keep them from getting over-encumbered.

The main role of a Fighter is to draw the enemies’ attention away from your allies. The Fighter’s Shield protects them from just about all physical damage, and as long as the player has enough stamina and is facing the right direction, it will let them take quite a beating without flinching. While the main focus is on drawing aggro and tanking hits, the Fighter also has a wide range of damage-focused attacks that can quickly cut down smaller enemies and deal decent damage against monsters.
