Marvel Snap: Best War Machine Decks

Quick Links

Marvel Snap releases cards into the game on a regular basis, but they don’t always have clear uses in the game. This week’s new card, War Machine, is not one of these cases. This card has some pretty powerful synergies and interactions with other cards that could leave a lasting mark on the game’s meta.

Best War Machine Decks

War Machine in Marvel Snap surrounded by Goose, Cull Obsidian, Professor X, and Ebony Maw.

War Machine’s ability states, “On Reveal: Until the end of next turn, nothing can stop you from playing cards anywhere.” This means that he can override some of the game’s more troubling locations, negate the effects of lane-locking card abilities, and even disregard placement requirements for some powerful cards. War Machine has a similar impact to Jeff, though his Cost and Power are a bit higher, making his entry into the game tougher to choreograph.

He has a huge amount of synergy with cards that have predetermined placement requirements. These are cards like Giganto (can only be played in the left lane), Cull Obsidian (can only be played in a lane with a 1-Cost card), and Crossbones (can only be played in lanes where you are winning). This can make for some very interesting decks and gameplay strategies.

On Reveal: Until the end of next turn, nothing can stop you from playing cards anywhere.

War Machine Infinaut Deck

Marvel Snap deck comprised of War Machine, Ebony Maw, Armor, Jeff, Caiera, Hope Summers, Magik, Crossbones, Cull Obsidian, Taskmaster, Infinaut, and She-Hulk.

This deck focuses on War Machine’s ability to play cards like Crossbones, Cull Obsidian, Ebony Maw, and the Infinaut without paying attention to their play requirements. This can lead to some hefty plays on turns five and/or turn six. Hope Summers is a huge asset in this deck! Because War Machine is a 4-Cost card, players won’t be able to take full advantage of his ability and play the Infinaut one earliest play unless Hope Summer is involved. Playing War Machine into a Hope Summers lane will give players six Energy on turn five which means they can slap down Infinaut and follow it up with Taskmaster on turn six!

Playing Magik will also help extend the game, giving players more time to make hefty moves. If Infinaut doesn’t work out, players can also fallback to Crossbones, Ebony Maw, and Cull Obsidian to take full advantage of War Machine’s ability!

Deck Contents:

  • War Machine (4-Cost, 6-Power)
  • Ebony Maw (1-Cost, 7-Power)
  • Armor (2-Cost, 2-Power)
  • Jeff (2-Cost, 3-Power)
  • Caiera (3-Cost, 4-Power)
  • Hope Summers (3-Cost, 4-Power)
  • Magik (3-Cost, 2-Power)
  • Crossbones (4-Cost, 8-Power)
  • Cull Obsidian (4-Cost, 10-Power)
  • Taskmaster (5-Cost, 0-Power)
  • Infinaut (6-Cost, 20-Power)
  • She-Hulk (6-Cost, 10-Power)

War Machine Goose Deck

Marvel Snap deck comprised of War Machine, Nebula, Goose, Juggernaut, Magik, Storm, Crossbones, Jessica Jones, Professor X, Sandman, Doctor Doom, and Infinaut.

This deck focuses on locking down lanes and forcing the opponent to play where you decide. This can be accomplished by playing cards like Goose, Storm, and Professor X. You yourself can get past and manipulate this lane-lockdown using cards like Doctor Doom, Jessica Jones, Juggernaut, and, of course, War Machine. Sandman can also cause some issues for the opponent. This deck is almost a disrupt deck in many ways!

Deck Contents:

  • War Machine (4-Cost, 6-Power)
  • Nebula (1-Cost, 1-Power)
  • Goose (2-Cost, 2-Power)
  • Juggernaut (3-Cost, 3-Power)
  • Magik (3-Cost, 2-Power)
  • Storm (3-Cost, 2-Power)
  • Crossbones (4-Cost, 8-Power)
  • Jessica Jones (4-Cost, 5-Power)
  • Professor X (5-Cost, 1-Power)
  • Sandman (5-Cost, 4-Power)
  • Doctor Doom (6-Cost, 5-Power)
  • Infinaut (6-Cost, 20-Power)

War Machine Omega Red Deck

Marvel Snap deck comprised of War Machine, Ebony Maw, Goose, Hope Summers, Magik Storm, Cull Obsidian, Omega Red, Klaw, Giganto, Infinaut, Onslaught.

This deck is similar to the last one, focusing on locking down certain lanes to force the opponent to play where you want. This is accomplished with cards like Goose and Storm, while players can rely heavily on cards like Omega Red and Klaw to throw some Power into adjacent lanes, surprising the opponent with some big numbers on the final turn, especially if Onslaught is involved. War Machine allows cards like Cull Obsidian, Giganto, and Ebony Maw to be played and can even help to throw some cards into Storm’s lane!

Deck Contents:

  • War Machine (4-Cost, 6-Power)
  • Ebony Maw (1-Cost, 7-Power)
  • Goose (2-Cost, 2-Power)
  • Hope Summers (3-Cost, 4-Power)
  • Magik (3-Cost, 2-Power)
  • Storm (3-Cost, 2-Power)
  • Cull Obsidian (4-Cost, 10-Power)
  • Omega Red (4-Cost, 5-Power)
  • Klaw (5-Cost, 4-Power)
  • Giganto (6-Cost, 14-Power)
  • Infinaut (6-Cost, 20-Power)
  • Onslaught (6-Cost, 7-Power)

Best War Machine Counters

War Machine in Marvel Snap surrounded by Cosmo variants.

War Machine is an On Reveal card, so the biggest counter here is Cosmo. This is pretty easy to predict and avoid so, as far as counters go, War Machine doesn’t have a whole lot to worry about! There are some strategic counters present, however. Since War Machine is mostly going to be playing down high-Power cards, Shang-Chi is also one to watch out for.

Best War Machine Synergies

War Machine in Marvel Snap surrounded by Infinaut and Giganto.

War Machine synergizes with lots of cards! Cards that have placement requirements are gold for War Machine. These are cards like Ebony Maw (can’t be played after turn 3), Giganto (can only be played in the left lane), Cull Obsidian (can only be played in a lane with a 1-Cost card), and Crossbones (can only be played in lanes where you are winning), and, the most impactful, the Infinaut (can’t be played if you played a card on the turn before).

He also synergizes with cards that manipulate the play conditions of the game (locations, card Cost, etc). These are cards like Goose, Professor X, Sandman, or Storm. War Machine can bypass the text on all of these cards, giving you room to make some impressive plays. Hope Summers is a great card to pair with War Machine as she will give players one extra Energy on the following turn after a card is played in her lane. This means players can execute a deadly combo like Hope Summers on turn three → War Machine (in the same lane) on turn four → the Infinaut on turn five → Taskmaster on turn six!

Is War Machine Worth It?

War Machine in Marvel Snap surrounded by Silver Samurai and Silk variants.

War Machine is a fascinating card with a lot of potential. His ability is strong enough that he will likely be the centerpiece of many decks, even if he doesn’t go the full

length of impacting the game’s meta. It is definitely the standout card from this season of the game and we recommend picking the card up while it’s in the Spotlight Cache.

Players have two ways of obtaining War Machine at launch. They can either purchase him from the Token Shop for 6,000 Tokens or try to get him in the Spotlight Cache by spending Spotlight Keys. During his debut week, he will be joined in the Spotlight Cache by Silk and Silver Samurai (Spotlight variants shown in the image above), and while those cards don’t have a lot of synergy with War Machine, they are both decent cards in their own right.
