A Beggar’s Tale is one of the many side quests in DD2. Here’s how you can obtain the quest and finish it to uncover Albert’s secret.

There are a lot of things about Pawns that players need to understand in order to make use of them. For instance, you need to know what Vocations are best for your Pawns and what Inclinations you should use. On top of understanding those aspects, you need to know what Specialization to use for your Pawn. Here’s a guide to figuring out the Specializations.

What Are Pawn Specializations?

Pawn Specializations are skills that only your Pawns can have. You can only change the Specialization that your Main Pawn has, so if you want other Pawns to have a specific Specialization, you will need to hire one that already has that Specialization. In order to change the Specialization, you will need to find a Tome for that specific Specialization and then use it like you would any other item. That will change your Main Pawn’s Specialization.

Pawns can only have one Specialization active at a time.

How To Find A Pawn With A Specific Specialization

If you want a Pawn with a certain Specialization, you will need to find one at a Riftstone. Thankfully, you are able to do searches that make these Specializations easier. Here’s a breakdown of how you can find the right Pawns:

  1. Go to “Search for a Pawn” at a Riftstone
  2. Do an advanced search
  3. Specifically look for the Specialization you want.

All Pawn Specializations & How To Obtain Them

Here are the Pawn Specializations you can find.

Specialization

What It Does

How To Unlock

Aphonite

Quites the Pawn down so they don’t speak as much. While this can be super helpful for players who are tired of hearing their Pawns, remember Dragonsplague is only caught if you listen to your Pawns.

The unlocking of this Specialization is currently unknown. However, you can find Official Pawns with the Specialization.

Chirurgeon

Allows the Pawn to use Curatives on you and your other Pawns. This means that they can use health potions and things when you’re running low on health, which can be super helpful if you’re in the middle of a tough battle.

Complete the side quest “Medicament Predicament” and speak to Flora in Vernworth

Forager

Marks all the locations of foraging areas on your map. This will allow you to gather items that can be combined and items that can be used to enhance your armor and weapons.

Complete the quest “Heels of History” and speak to Malcolm

Hawker

This allows the Pawn to purchase items from you. This can be very helpful for players who love to explore since you will be able to sell the items that are taking up inventory weight.

Give any merchant with a backpack (the roaming merchants) three gifts

Logistician

Allows the Pawn to combine items from everyone’s inventories. This is another thing that can help with inventory weight, and it allows the Chirurgeon to have more potions to use.

Complete the quest “Heels of History” and speak to Kendrick

Woodland Wordsmith

Allows the Pawn to translate Elvish. If you’re planning a trip to the Sacred Arbor (where the Elves live) this is a must. Otherwise, you cannot speak to the Elves.

Give any Elf in the Sacred Arbor three gifts

If you have completed the steps to unlock a Specialization, but the giver isn’t giving it to you, wait a few days in the game and see if they approach you first.

What Are The Best Specializations?

The best Specializations depend on what you’re doing. For starters, you will only want a Pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith Specialization if you’re going to the Sacred Arbor. If you’re not, then that Specialization won’t help you since it is only usable there. Additionally, as far as we can tell, only Official Capcom Pawns can have the Aphonite Specialization, which just makes them talk less. Therefore, that isn’t the greatest Specialization.

That leaves four Specializations: Chirurgeon, Forager, Hawker, and Logistician. It really depends on you as to which of the three you want your Pawns to have. It is recommended that each Pawn has a unique Specialization. That way you can benefit from them all. Chirurgeon and Hawker are a must just so that you have someone always healing you and your Pawns and you can always sell off items while exploring. When looking at the Forager and Logistician, the Forage is probably the more convenient. This is because you will always be able to see places where you can obtain more materials. While the Logistician can be super helpful, you can easily combine those items yourself.
