Authorities said Tuesday that a man injured in a mass shooting in Sacramento, California, last weekend, has been arrested and charged with participating in the disorder.
Smiley Martin, 27, was “at the scene with serious gunshot wounds” and was taken to hospital where he was “quickly identified as a VIP,” he said. Sacramento police statement.
Officials said he is the brother of the first suspect who was taken into custody, and he remains under guard at the hospital.
Police said the first suspect, Martin’s brother, Dandrey Martin, 26, was charged with assault and illegal possession of firearms.
The shooting left six dead and 12 wounded and took place in a bustling downtown area shortly after the last call early Sunday morning. Investigators believe that several shooters opened fire following a major battle that extended to the streets and covered several apartment blocks in the city.
