Right now, there’s really no shortage of free messaging apps that offer a host of features that everyone would want together. Plus, they’re so popular that it sometimes makes switching to other services impractical. WhatsApp, Facebook’s Messenger, etc. Common names like these are common, and it will be downright hard for you to get hold of someone who doesn’t use any of them. But if you are looking for a new platform to use or if you are new to messaging games and want to choose something fast and convenient for all your communication needs. It might be for you IMO.
Background
Now I gotta be honest IMO free video calls and chat It really does not stand out from its competitors in many ways. In fact, all messaging services technically offer the same thing, and there are rarely new features that are not yet available in any other service. The only major difference between thempopular‘ messaging apps are the ‘average’ user base. WhatsApp and Messenger have tons of users. Like I said, it would be hard to find someone who doesn’t use any of these. And since you have to use the same service as theirs to communicate. How these apps continue to gain users is common sense, with average apps growing slowly over time and perhaps not at all.
Fortunately, IMO itself has a huge fan base. Sure, it’s not as big as the examples I used above, but judging by its 4/5 rating for 4.69 million unique downloads and apps. I would say that if you decide to change your default messaging app to IMO, you will not be at a disadvantage in any way.
Specifications
And if you decide, it varies from person to person, it may be worth it. And it is for me.
The design of the app is simple and intuitive, in fact it really resembles the simple and utilitarian design of WhatsApp. As far as the messaging blocks and the button layouts, actually… But as the design trend today moves towards offering a more minimalist and simple experience, I’m not surprised that they ‘own’ the design of WhatsApp. There’s a lot you can simplify before the app’s aesthetics become bland. And that’s the last thing you want to do when it comes to an interactive service like messaging. Only five buttons are shown on the interface: voice and video call buttons, camera and emoji prompt, and a return to dialog button. Without all the bells and whistles, it creates a really messy and rather pleasant experience.
As a result, it passes with a good grade in my design book. While it certainly doesn’t go well that the design between the two is similar enough to say it’s technically a steal IMO, I’m not really complaining as it’s a nice design they borrowed.
Apart from that, just like any messaging app, IMO uses end-to-end (E2EE) encryption standards for all its transmission. This nifty little encryption technique is also used by WhatsApp and countless other apps to ensure security, and WhatsApp is the one who popularized the technology. However, I wouldn’t actually trust it to be completely safe, but maybe that’s just my skepticism.
The thing about these apps is that as long as you have internet, they are much better than standard carrier calls and SMS since you don’t really have to pay for anything besides the possible data cost. This is in case you use a 3G or LTE plan, other than that it’s a completely ‘free’ service. Since IMO is a business messaging app, it gives you unlimited time using video and voice calling as well as texts. No arguments about this department: most of the receptions about this most basic and essential function are good. Calls are clear and messages are well received on the other end.
Photo and video sharing is also not out of the equation. Upload and download speed really depends on you and the other person’s Internet speed, but overall, IMO it handles this pretty well and quickly as it claims.
Catching Facebook, IMO also offers free emojis after pages to choose from. Now the quality may not be as good as what other services offer, but it’s enough for you to choose, I hope.
Summary
IMO, frankly, ‘another‘ messaging app out there. It may have a new name, but it has yet to bring anything new to the table to really stand out among the rest and push itself forward. Right now, it’s as simple as a self-made app can get, and that might not be acceptable to many. So if you don’t want to use the app in its current phase, that’s fine. There is so much more out there.
