Neon and National Geographic release Sarah Dosa’s “Nar El Hob” song

Neon will partner with National Geographic to launch Sarah Dosa’s documentary “The Fire of Love,” following its Sundance debut earlier this year. Neon is planning a theatrical release for this summer, with a streaming release on Disney+ later this year.

Dosa’s documentary traces the life and work of French volcanologists Katia and Maurice Kraft through rare archival footage. The love story is full of passion and tragedy, as the two died while exploring and filming a volcanic eruption, doing the same thing that brought them together. The film kicked off the Sundance Documentary Competition in the United States, and won the Jonathan Oppenheim Award for Editing. National Geographic Documentary Films acquired the global rights after the premiere of the film Sundance.

Narrated by Miranda July, and the film is produced by Shane Burris, Ina Fishman, and Dusa. The executive producers are Greg Boustead and Jessica Harrop of Sandbox Films, Carolyn Bernstein of National Geographic Documentary Films and Josh Braun and Dan Braun of Submarine.

NEON and National Geographic previously jointly released Matthew Heinemann’s 2021 COVID-19 “First Wave” document.

Dosa is a Peabody Award winning producer whose previous work is “The Seer & Unseen” and the Netflix music series “Re-Mastered”. Dosa also co-produced the Oscar-nominated Netflix document The Edge of Democracy. Dosa is represented by anonymous content.

“Fire of Love” is Sandbox Films, Intuitive Pictures and produced by Cottage M. The feature documentary includes an original recording by Nicolas Godin. The film was edited by Erin Kasper and Jocelyn Chabot.

Neon also recently released the Danish documentary “Flee” by director Jonas Boeher Rasmussen, which received six Academy Award nominations. The film made history as the first film to be nominated simultaneously in the Feature Animation, Documentary, and International categories. Neon’s additional credits include Joachim Trier’s “The Worst Person in the World” and Pablo Larren’s “Spencer”. At the 75th Cannes Film Festival next month, Neon will screen David Cronenberg’s “Future Crimes” and Brett Morgan’s David Bowie film, “Monage Daydream.”
