Google’s ‘Pixel Fold’ is said to be coming in Q4 2022

We’ve been hearing about the possibility of a “Pixel Fold” for a long time now. Android 12L introduced some changes designed specifically for tablets and foldable smartphones, and it seems that with Google Tensor, Google is finally starting to take its hardware seriously. However, that all seemed to dissipate when Ross Young of Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) said in November of last year that the project was dead. Despite this, the device appears to be back on the right track, as it has now tweeted more information about what to expect from its display – and even when it might launch.

The biggest takeaway from Young’s tweet is that Google’s ‘Pixel Fold’ foldable phone should arrive in the fourth quarter of 2022. It will likely launch soon after the release of Android 13, with a platform update offered to better support foldable devices. Even better is its rumored price tag, which is said to be significantly lower than its competitors at $1,400. That would make it $400 less than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, $400 more than the Galaxy Z Flip 3, but $800 more than the cheaper Google Pixel 6.

Not only did Young provide an insight into Google’s upcoming foldable smartphone, but Samsung as well. It is reported that both devices will have similarly sized internal displays and that the main differentiating factor will be the external displays. It looks like Google’s foldable phone will have a smaller 5.8-inch external display, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will come in 6.19 inches.

While the Google phone has a smaller screen, it will likely have a larger aspect ratio, perhaps similar to the OPPO Find N. The external display on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 is a common sticking point, as its thinness makes it difficult to use. in times.
