DJI Avata is a new FPV drone set to arrive this summer

In the wake of the recently announced DJI Mini 3 Pro launch, we’ve got news that another DJI drone is on the horizon. The DJI Avata is slated to debut sometime during the summer, but that might not be what you expect.

According to sources, DJI Avata will be a new entry in the company’s FPV (first person perspective) line of drones. DJI introduced its first consumer-friendly FPV drone early last year. DJI FPV delivered a good mix of size, speed, and cinematic performance. It turns out that the follow could come with an entirely new design, making domestic flights a much easier task.

The drone will benefit from the design of CineWhoop

The unannounced drone will reportedly benefit from a design by CineWhoop Tweet embed. If the term isn’t familiar, CineWhoop drones generally have a layer of protection surrounding their propellers. The level of protection can vary but the pattern is definitely unmistakable. Since it’s an FPV drone, the operator will generally wear a headset to pilot it out, and with the propellers protected, the pilot can fly with more confidence and even into confined spaces.

Usually, FPV drones require some knowledge building. But due to their customizability, FPVs offer something unparalleled when compared to typical drones that can be found at your local electronics store. Naturally, DJI is trying to blend these two worlds with its FPV entries, and because of this, there are bound to be compromises, although we’re not sure what they are, just yet.

Besides taking a look at its physical form, we have some rumored details that suggest the DJI Avata weighs around 500g. The drone will provide excellent camera quality close to that of the Mini 3 Pro. Despite its small size, the drone will also apparently offer better battery life than its predecessor. Tweet embed It also mentions that there is a “glasses touchpad menu”, and that there is no “manual mode”. As of now, the drone is scheduled to arrive sometime in July or August.
