This fall, The CW returns to the world supernatural With winchesterThe prequel series will tell the untold epic love story of how John met Mary and how they put everything on the line to save not only their love but the entire world. The series will see Jensen Ackles return as Dean Winchester, to be the series’ narrator, but it turns out he won’t be the only familiar face and character the show brings to fans.
talk with TV linesaid Ackles so with winchesterThe door is open for fan-favorite supernatural characters to appear, too, in different ways.
“The great thing about this world is that there is nothing on the table,” said Ackles. “We have ways to bring back fan-favorite characters and the actors who played them. We also have ways to bring back smaller versions of those characters.”
Winchesters will be starring betweenDrake Rodger as John and American housewifeMeg Donnelly as Mary. The cast will also include legacies Alum Bianca Caglich as John’s mother, Mary.
“To be honest, I was like, ‘I don’t know if we can do this,'” Ackles revealed, and then it took [writer] ruby [Thompson] And I’m sitting around like, ‘Okay, we know we have to do this, we know we have to do this, but if we connect those dots with a straight line, it’s not going to be fun. That’s boring. That’s a simple story. If we connect those dots in a crazy and wild way’ supernatural way, then we have a show. So that’s what we’ve been doing.”
Ackles also explained that the series will address the previously established law of John and Mary and will be explored in a way unique to the series.
“That’s kind of the exciting thing, in my opinion, is that waypoints or support posts erected on the mother ship, as we lovingly call them, will be touched upon,” Ackles added. “But we’re going to get to those waypoints in a way we probably didn’t expect. And what we really enjoy is, like, the story comes together. It’s not the washed-out version. It’s not the sugar-polished version of how mom and dad met. It’s like what really happened.”
“But we play in the moments that are discussed and talked about,” Ackles continues, “maybe in a slightly varied way that sounds like, ‘Stop, wait, we knew it happened, but I didn’t know why it happened or so it happened. “
