But as we saw with The Mandalorian, that change began as new technology continued to be developed that allowed for a better filming process for the production crew, cast, and home-watching fans.

With that in mind, we’re turning our attention to the much-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series that just arrived on Disney+ as fans ask where the new installment in the Star Wars universe will be filmed.

Obi-Wan Kenobi actors and crew talk about new shooting techniques

Talking to distracts As part of the Obi-Wan Kenobi press kit, director Deborah Chow discussed using StageCraft after his first introduction to video wall technology on The Mandalorian.

“I started using that technology, StageCraft, on [The] Mandalorian. So I was actually really excited to be able to use it on my Kenobi as well,”

Added to this, Obi-Wan representative himself Ewan McGregor was full of praise for the technology saying, “Experiencing the first three, especially the second and third episodes, there’s a lot of blue screen and green screen and it’s tough. It’s very hard to make something believable when there isn’t something.

“And here we are in this wonderful group where, you know, if you’re shooting in the desert, everywhere you look there’s the desert. And if you’re flying in space, then, you know, the stars fly in front of you as you explore your height.”
