Only two episodes in “Ms. Marvel,” Kamala Khan, played by Iman Velani, is Marvel’s latest superhero, attracting fans all over the world. Teenage superhero-turned-superhero has just discovered her powers, and as she goes on this journey, music supervisor Dave Jordan and co-supervisor Shannon Murphy accompanied her adventures with plenty of needle drops.
Here are some of the tracks that appeared in the series. While this only highlights some of the tracks from the first two episodes, if anything is going to happen, there will be a lot more to come, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday.
Eva B – “Rozi”
The tune of Pakistani musician and rapper “Rosie” appeared in the first episode of the series with the end of the credits. The song was originally recorded in 2019 and has been re-created for “Ms. Marvel Show”.
The Weeknd – “Bright Lights”
When Marvel released the trailer for “Ms. Marvel” in March, one of the highlights was The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.” The song was slightly remixed to the sync used, and fans liked its “first-rate” use of the hit song. It didn’t end there. The song reappears in the first episode of the series as super fan Kamala breaks down a scene from Avengers: Endgame.
The Ronettes – “Be My Baby”
One of the most joyful and surprising needle drops is “Be My Baby”. The 1963 song is not a very old song for Kamala, who exchanges text messages and links with Kamran, a high school student. After a party, Kamala comes home and in a cheerful mood begins dancing from her home and living room to this classic tune, in a dreamlike sequence.
Riz Ahmed – Deal With It
Yes, this is Riz Ahmed. When he’s not doing acting, Ahmed also shines as a singer. His song “Deal With It” is taken from “The Long Goodbye”. Her words look at colonialism and the toxins in Pakistan. It’s fitting that the song plays while Kamala walks the corridors of her high school and gets ridiculed because people intentionally mispronounce her name. All this happens before she finds her self-confidence and superhuman abilities.
Ahmed Rushdie – Ko Ko Koreena
Much of Ms. Marvel’s strength comes from the authenticity with which Kamala’s heritage and culture is front and center of the show. This is reflected not only through the costume design, but also in the music choices. Aside from popular songs, Jordan, Shannon Murphy and the team dig into music libraries For Asian Artists.Ahmed Rushdi was a big star in Pakistan and appeared in the movie “Arman.” The song is played in Ms. Marvel’s play as Kamala and her mother perform their errands around the city.
Massy – “Feel So Good”
Kamala’s ’90s love continues with this rap song. She walks through school with a newfound confidence for obvious reasons. She dances around, corrects that goofy teacher who keeps saying her name wrong, and spends a moment in the sun. This song appears in episode 2 and we see a new perfection. She has discovered her supernatural abilities and has a brag in her step to show confidence. What difference does it make, now that you don’t have to walk the aisles feeling targeted? Mase’s song “Feel So Good” is an example of what it feels like and it’s the perfect song for her. She even steps aside to correct the teacher who misspelled her name in the first episode, and talks about her happiest moments.
