Robin S Thanks Beyoncé For Sampling Her On Break My Soul

Earlier this week, Beyoncé Surprised dropped her first single “Break My Soul” from her upcoming seventh solo album “Renaissance.” Samples of the pulsing dance track Robin S’ 1993 hit “Show Me Love,” the beloved house artist appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Wednesday to express her gratitude for her inclusion.

“This is Robin S, and this message is going to Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé, to Jay-Z, to the whole team,” she said during her interview. “Thank you so much for giving me flowers while I’m still alive. I’m honored, and I’m excited to see what else could happen.”

Robin says she learned of her song’s use in the single through her son, who told her that Show Me Love had been sampled in the expected new release. “My son calls me and he’s like, ‘Mom, mom. You’re trending everywhere.'” You know, Beyoncé put her song on and it’s ‘Show Me Love’, and you’re trending all over the place.”

Robin also revealed that there was no official communication between her and Beyoncé prior to the song’s release. However, the famous performer said “There is no need to confirm it. The singer knows her songs.”

She also told the show that she hopes the two will work together in the future “because that’s always been the dream,” and ended the conversation at a loss of words: “I can’t even. Just awesome. Many thanks.” Robin also sent her thanks to the team of artists and collaborators behind “Break My Soul”.

In the “Break My Soul” writing credits there are Jay-Z, Adam Pigott (aka BlaqNmilD, who has worked with Drake, Quavo, Megan Thee Stallion, and others), Big Freedia and Robin’s “Show Me Love” writers. The popular Robin dance track was originally released in 1993 and has solidified itself in club culture as a staple that many artists have tested and remixed ever since.
