Rashida Jones signs deal at Lionsgate TV, Sets ‘Lovesick’ Adaptation

Rashida Jones and Will McCormack’s production company Le Train Train has entered into a first-look deal with Lionsgate Television Group, in which Jones and McCormack will produce scripted projects across the platforms. The first project in development under the deal is “Lovesick”, based on the UK series of the same name.

“Lovesick” was a romantic comedy series that ran for one season on Channel 4 before moving to Netflix for seasons 2 and 3 produced by Clerkenwell Films and originally titled “Scrotal Recall.” The series starred Johnny Flynn as Dylan, who was with Must Support His roommates (Antonia Thomas and Daniel Ings) return to contact with all of his former sexual partners after being diagnosed with chlamydia.

Jones and McCormack’s writing of “Loveseek” is part of a written co-production partnership between Lionsgate and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions. Jones and McCormack will produce alongside original series creator Tom Edge, as well as Petra Fried of Clerkenwell and Ed MacDonald, Andy Baker and Angie Stephenson of BBC Studios. Searching for an author in progress.

“We are thrilled to be working with Lionsgate,” said Jones and McCormack. “Their imagination and blue-sky thinking about what’s possible in this rapidly changing television landscape is very exciting to us as creators and producers.”

said Scott Herbst, Head of Script Development and Executive Vice President of Lionsgate Television. “We look forward to working with both to create more unique and engaging content for all types of viewers.”

Under their Le Train banner, McCormack and Jones’ credits include TNT’s “Claws,” AMC’s “Kevin Can F**k Himself,” Netflix’s “#BlackAF,” and “A to Z” as well as the documentaries “Hot Girls Wanted: Triggered” and “centre piece”. Next, Jones is set to provide executive production of “Sunny” for Apple TV+.

Le Train Train is represented by UTA.
