Netflix selects Hedda Stiernstedt to direct Swedish comedy ‘One More Time’

Netflix presents a green-lit Swedish comedy “One More Time” with Hedda Stiernstedt (“Beforeigners”) in the lead role.

Jonatan Etzler will make his directorial debut with the film, which is set to hit Netflix in 2023.

In “One More Time,” Stiernstedt plays a 40-year-old Amelia who is hit by a bus on her birthday. When she woke up, she suddenly found that the year was 2002 and Amelia was 18 again – allowing her to right all the mistakes she made the first time.

But when she finds herself stuck in a “groundhog” time loop – she wakes up every morning on her 18th birthday – she realizes that something else is going on and that will have to be fixed before she can leave the past behind forever.

“I am very excited to breathe life into this project,” Stiernstedt said. “The timing of looking back at the early 2000s feels right and diving into that era is so much joy. I work with the talented Jonathan Itzler and a group of very talented actors. We are having a great time working together and I think that will be remarkable. In the end result.”

Tove Forsman and Sofie Forsman (“Young Royals”) wrote the film based on an original idea by Mikael Ljung. Eleanor produces a falcon in Breakable.

News of Netflix’s latest Swedish comedy comes only a day later diverse Its rival HBO Max revealed that the originals were discontinued in Nordic countries – including Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland – as well as Central Europe, the Netherlands and Turkey. The decision was made after WarnerMedia merged with Discovery.
