PowerToys 0.60 adds improvements for Windows 11 users

Microsoft released the latest version of PowerToys, its toolkit for power users on Windows 10 and 11, bringing it down to version 0.60. This release focuses mostly on minor improvements and fixes, but there are some changes worth noting, especially if you’re using Windows 11.

For starters, the Image Resizer and PowerRename tool have been added to the Windows 11 context menu. So far, if you want to use any of these tools on your files, you’ll need to right-click to bring up the Windows 11 context menu, then choose Show more options To see the old list, where these features will appear. This change reduces the number of steps you need to take to rename your files or resize images. The team notes that this may not work well if you are a Windows Insider in the Dev channel.

Another improvement related to Windows 11 is the Always on Top tool. This tool pins any window on top of all your other windows, and highlights the pinned windows with a colored border. Now, these borders will have rounded corners in Windows 11, following the rounded corners of the window itself.

Other than that, there are a few general improvements, like the new PowerToys Run plugin for OneNote. In addition, FancyZones now uses a new region selection technology that increases stability and prevents your regions from resetting when using multiple monitors. This update also makes it easier to install ARM64 versions of PowerToys through the Microsoft Store and Windows Package Manager.
