Dr. Farhoud Maibodi launches a new production company for ritual arts

Farhoud Meybodi launched Ritual Arts, a new production company, and secured a first-sight deal with Wayfarer Studios, the independent studio co-founded by Justin Baldoni and Steve Sarwitz. The company will focus on storytelling that inspires cultural change through television and film.

Maybody, an award-winning writer, director, and executive producer, recently worked on “My Last Days,” a documentary series about terminally ill people in season five on the CW. Meybodi previously co-founded Wayfarer Entertainment with Ahmet Musiol and Justin Baldoni, and the trio has collaborated on a variety of commercials, films, and TV shows. Maybody is a member of the Directors Guild of America and Academy of Television, and is also a board member of the Hollywood Bureau of the Council on Islamic Public Affairs.

“During these divisive times, it is critical that we, the creative community, break free from our echo chambers and speak to the heart and soul of this nation,” Maybody said in a statement. “Storytelling has always been a bridge-building path, and at Ritual, we aspire to create moving images that truly move people….Ideally, launching a meaningful dialogue between liberals, conservatives and everyone in between, in the hope of healing and uniting this great country.”

Ritual Arts also announced that Carra Greenberg will be the company’s head of production and operations, overseeing the current roster of production and partnerships. She will co-produce feature films and TV series for Ritual Arts, and has previously produced commercials, documentaries and feature content for a variety of companies. hThe documentary Girls of the Sexual Revolution, about native Dallas Cowboys fans, won the Grand Jury Prize at SXSW.

“I am delighted to be part of a team working to bring measurable change through mission-driven content,” Greenberg said in a statement. Farhood has a proven track record of journalistic integrity through the film industry. His work speaks of the critical stories of our time. I look forward to pushing the boundaries of creativity and celebrating diverse and powerful stories and voices for change.”

Dr. Caroline Heldman has also joined the company as Head of Social Impact. Her published books include, “The Politics of Market Protest: Consumer Activism in the Corporate Era,” “Women, Power, and Politics: The Fight for Gender Equality in the United States” and “Madam President? Sex and Politics on the Road to the White House.” Heldman also co-founded the New Orleans Women’s Shelter and Lower Ninth Ward Museum.

Ritual Arts raised more than $4 million to produce its initial roster. Upcoming projects will be announced in the coming months.
