Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes? An ESPN poll gives an answer to the burning question

An ESPN poll of more than 50 league executives, coaches, players and scouts indicated who would prefer playing in the middle between Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

NFL training camps are set to begin later this month, which means expectations and discussions for next season are flying by. Not just with the teams, but who are the best players in the positions.

ESPN (Subscription required) Poll with over 50 NFL CEOs, Coaches, players and scouts to ask them who they think are the top 10 players in their position. But it also provided an answer as to who they favored in the quarterback between Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Those surveyed listed Rodgers as the No. 1 quarterback in the NFL.

NFL managers, coaches, players, and scouts prefer Aaron Rodgers over Patrick Mahomes

Here’s what one veteran NFC scout had to say about Rodgers, via in ESPN Jeremy Fowler:

“He was and always will be the same man; he will make those receptors even better [without Davante Adams]Scouts said, h/t ESPN. “He should have had more championships, but their own defense and teams let him down.”

Rodgers emerges from winning another NFL MVP award, his fourth all-time and second in consecutive years. Last season, he threw for 4,115 yards, 37 touchdowns, and seven low interceptions in the league. It also led the league in the interception ratio (0.8) and the middle rating (111.9).

Despite the record 13-4, the Packers defeated the San Francisco 49ers 13-10 in the division round.

Meanwhile, he helped the Mahomes overcome a sluggish start to the 2021 season, with The Chiefs winning 9 of their last 10 regular season games after scoring 3-4. Mahomes then led the team to the Asian Championship match for the fourth consecutive season. But in the Asian Championship game, they fell to the Cincinnati Bengals, who sealed a trip to Super Bowl 56.

Mahomes threw 4,839 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions while completing 66.3 percent of his passes.

Both quarterbacks have something in common, not their Super Bowl aspirations or their love of golf. Instead, both will head into the 2022 season without their star receivers on the team. Davante Adams traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, while Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins. This could be a real test of how great both the Rodgers and Mahomes can be without their historical playmakers.

So, who do you think should be the best quarterback in the NFL? Rodgers? Mahomes? another option? Vote away in the comments.
