Windows 11 build 22622.450 is moving to the Beta channel with fixes

Microsoft releases the first version of Windows 11 of the week to Insiders enrolled in the Beta channel. Today, Windows 11 releases 22622.450 and 22621.450, mostly focused on fixes, after a boxed release last Thursday, when the beta channel got version 22622.440.

Windows 11 build 22622.450 and 22621.450 are basically the same, so some features are enabled in the former, while the latter has them disabled. Since this release focuses entirely on fixes, the changelog is exactly the same for both. There are also some improvements to SMB compression and security using Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. Here is the full change:

  • new! We’ve enhanced Microsoft Defender for Endpoint’s ability to identify and intercept ransomware and advanced attacks.
  • new! We compressed a file regardless of its size if you configure Server Message Block (SMB) compression.
  • new! We have improved storage replication that occurs over low bandwidth or congested wide area networks (WANs).
  • We’ve fixed an issue that causes Windows to display tablet mode features for some non-touchscreen devices.
  • We fixed an issue where some application windows had blank sections in the task view preview.
  • We have fixed an issue that occurs to some of you when copying files from network drives. The error code is 0x80070026.
  • We have fixed a token leak issue in LsapGetClientInfoEx
  • We’ve fixed an issue causing certain situations sihost.exe file To use a large amount of CPU.
  • We’ve fixed an issue that causes Microsoft Edge to stop responding when using IE mode. This issue also prevents you from interacting with a dialog.

As we get closer to the expected launch date of Windows 11, version 22H2, it’s only natural to see a greater focus on fixes with these updates, as Microsoft tries to iron out any major issues before release. However, this version is still not perfect, and there are some known issues that haven’t been fixed yet, which you can check out below.

Known issues in Windows 11 build 22622.450

  • There is an issue in recent Beta Channel updates that is causing the Photos app to crash, a fix will be coming soon via a Photos app update via the Store.
  • We are investigating reports that SQL Server Management Studio failed to launch for some Insiders.
  • [NEW] We’re looking at reports that audio has stopped working for some Insiders after upgrading to version 22622.440.

[File Explorer]

  • The left half of the File Explorer title bar may not be dragged by mouse or touch.
  • Up arrow is incorrectly aligned in File Explorer tabs. This will be fixed in a future update.

If you’re more interested in developments in Windows development, there should be a new build of Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel later this week as well. Recent reports suggest that the next version of Windows may actually be Windows 12, and not another annual update like the upcoming 22H2. However, there aren’t a lot of new features being tested with Insiders right now.
