AMC’s “Damascus” adds “Oklahoma!” Star Sasha Hutchings in the cast

Sasha Hutchings has been cast in a recurring role in Demascus, AMC’s upcoming science fiction comedy from Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm.

Hutchings will play Damascus-based Budhi Banks girlfriend (Okieriete Onaodowan) who is tech-savvy for 3 years. She is committed to the success of their relationship despite the stalemate in Damascus.
The six-episode, half-hour series follows Damascus, a 33-year-old black man who goes on a journey of self-discovery by delving into the world of digital psychiatry and using an innovative new technology that allows him to experience different versions of his life. Additional cast members include Janet Hubert, Caleb Eberhart, and Shakira Janie Bay.

The Hutchings is currently starring on the North American Tour in “Oklahoma!” as Laurie Williams after appearing on the original cast of the Broadway musical. Hope has also reprized the role of Hope in the Starz comedy series “Run the World” and has appeared in “Fosse/Verdon”, “The Bold Type”, “Jessica Jones”, “Master of None”, “Blue Bloods” and “The Dangerous Book for Boys”. Her other Broadway credits include Memphis, Motown The Musical, and Hamilton’s original cast.

She has been represented by The Hybrid Agency, The Boothe Group, and Imprint.

“Damascus” is scheduled to be released for the first time in 2023. The project was lit up in February under AMC’s script-to-series model, which opens writers’ rooms for the development of potential series, which, successfully, goes straight to series. The series was created by Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm, who also wrote the pilot and serves as show director alongside executive producer Kirk Moore. Mark Johnson executive produces and produces Myki Bajaj, both for Gran Via Productions. “Damascus” produced by AMC Studios.
