Season 2 of ‘The Great American Recipe’ gets a summer release date on PBS

PBS announced Monday that the second season of the cooking competition series “The Great American Recipe” will premiere in the summer of 2023. The programmer also announced that Sylvia Martinez, a home chef from California, won the series’ first season.

The Great American Recipe celebrates the multiculturalism that makes American food unique and creative. Season two once again gives home chefs from across the country another chance to showcase their beloved signature dishes. Alejandro Ramos will return once again as host, and chefs Lea Cohen, Tiffany Derry and Graham Elliott will return as judges. Production for the second season of the series, which is co-produced by VPM and Objective Media Group America, is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2022.

“We’re excited to bring this amazing, fantastic show back to PBS,” said Gilly Pierce, President of Objective Media America Group. “It’s a one-of-a-kind cooking competition, a festive series where judges give professional advice and contestants root for each other and bond through shared stories about food and family.”

Martinez, a California home chef who grew up preparing the Mexican dishes she learned from her grandmother, aunts and mother, was revealed as the winner of the first season on Friday, August 12. A human resources executive and college educator before moving to life in the United States after meeting and marrying her husband.

The National Hispanic Media Alliance (NHMC) has announced the lineup of honorees at the 36th Impact Awards Gala.
