Neve Campbell tops David E. Kelly’s ABC Series ‘Avalon’ list

Neve Campbell is set to star in the upcoming ABC series ‘Avalon’ diverse Made sure on.

The show is descended from co-authors David E. Kelly and Michael Connelly, and the show is based on a short story Connelly wrote. It was ordered straight to the series at ABC in February.

The series takes place in the main city of Avalon on Catalina Island, where Detective Nicole Searcy (Campbell) heads a small office in the Los Angeles Police Department. Catalina’s local population serves over a million tourists annually, and every day when the ferries arrive, hundreds of potential new stories enter the island. Detective Cersei is drawn to a career mystery that challenges everything she knows about herself and the island.

Cersei’s character has also been described as the only detective assigned to the LA County Sheriff substation on Catalina Island. Somewhat mysterious, she is not easy to intimidate and sticks to her morals. Ironically, it was her strong moral compass that drove her into exile to Avalon, Catalina’s largest. It’s a party that a Los Angeles cop professionally wouldn’t want, but she soon discovers that her valuable detective skills are more in demand in Avalon than she ever imagined.

Campbell is currently starring in the Netflix series “The Lincoln Lawyer,” which is based on Connelly’s book series of the same name with Kelley serving as creator and executive producer. Campbell will remain on the show in its second season in the recurring role of Maggie MacPherson. Campbell is perhaps best known for starring in the “Scream” franchise, though she recently announced that she would not be returning for a sixth film because she felt that “the offer that was made to me was not worth the value I had made to the French.”

Campbell is also known for starring in shows such as “Party of Five” and “House of Cards”, as well as films such as “Wild Things” and “Skyscraper”. Also set to appear in the upcoming Peacock series based on the “Twisted Metal” video game franchise.

It has been represented by Gersh, Anonymous Content, Johnson, Shapiro, and Slewett & Kole.

Kelly is writing the beta version of “Avalon” and will also be doing production. Connelly is also an executive producer alongside Dana Calvo, who will serve as a presenter. Ross Feynman of Fineman Entertainment (who is also an executive producer on The Lincoln Lawyer) and Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson of A+E Studios will also produce. The series is produced by A+E Studios (which also produces “The Lincoln Lawyer”) and 20th Television. Fineman is currently undergoing an initial deal with A+E Studios. The show is scheduled to start during the 2022-2023 season.

Deadline first reported Campbell’s selection.
