Explanation of the Hobby Lobby’s Past Controversies

In 2010, the Hobby Lobby purchased thousands of items during an auction from unnamed dealers in the United Arab Emirates and Israel, per TV program.

However, the items the Hobby Lobby received were artifacts from Iraq that were mislabeled with things like “ceramic tiles” or “terracotta tiles (sample)” in order to pass through customs. Since 1990, there have been strict restrictions on the import of goods from Iraq into the United States, and this has been illegal.
