Fantastic Four Director: Matt Shukman of Wanda Vision in conversation

Marvel Studios appears to be one step closer to finalizing plans for a highly anticipated “Fantastic Four” reboot, with news that WandaVision team leader Matt Shukman is in talks to direct the project, diverse Made sure on.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Marvel president Kevin Feige teased the movie, which is currently set to release on November 8, 2024, and revealed that the “Fantastic Four” will begin Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

John Watts, who directed all three of Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man” films, was previously announced as the director of “Fantastic Four,” but exited the project in April. Rumors that Shukman had been tapped to take the job surfaced online earlier this week, with the selection announced by fans given the director’s successful stewardship of the Disney+ series. For his work on WandaVision, Shakman earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Series, Limited Film, or Anthology, as well as a nod in the Limited Series or Outstanding Anthology category as Executive Producer on the Series. Shukman is also an Emmy Award nominee for his directorial work on Hulu’s The Great.

Deadline was the first to report the news of Schcman’s participation in the project. Marvel cannot be reached for comment.
