TrustNordisk has climbed into the Q section of the movie ‘Boundless’

TrustNordisk has acquired the international sales rights to the new Danish crime film “Boundless”, based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s “Den Grænseløse”, his sixth novel in the Department Q series.

Danish actor Ole Christian Madsen, who is credited with the HBO series “Banshee” (2013-16) and the World War II drama “Flame & Citron” starring Mads Mikkelsen, took on the challenge of bringing the exciting world of Adler-Olsen to the silver screens, from Text by Jacob Weiss (“interrogation”, “that time of year”).

Christian Madsen will meet again with his “Banshee” actor Ulrich Thomsen (“Trom”, “Festen”). The latter reprises the role of Detective Karl Mork, who he played in the previous version of Department Q for Nordisk Film Production, “The Marco Effect”.

Commander said he has “a deep respect for the world built in the Adler-Olsen novels, which he finds ‘interesting and fascinating.'” He emphasized, ‘I truly believe that Boundless can expand that world even more.

In this new thriller, Carl Mørck and his team are sent to the remote Danish island of Bornholm, where a cold case involving a dead girl hanging from a tree, linked to a secret cult of sun worshipers on the island, is resurrected.

In the film, the characters are fatally confronted with their past and sent to settle a troubling case linked in many ways to the choices they make. [Detective] Longtime “expanded” by Karl Mork, Christian Madsen describes the project as “a thought-provoking film about revenge, power, and submission, but also about limitations.” He said, “Jacob Weiss wrote a nerve-wracking script, and I chose to direct the film because I believe there is enormous potential to make an entertaining and compelling thriller with disturbing insight into a closed, magical and fantastic world.”

Susanne Wendt, Managing Director of TrustNordisk, speaking of her latest film, said she was “delighted to be working again with the Department Q world” and “convinced that Ole Christian Madsen will make the film even more exciting with his talent, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.”

The project, scheduled to begin on September 2, is produced by Mikael Rex and Malin Blinkoff for Nordisk Film Production Denmark, in co-production with Germany’s Nadcon Film. Co-financiers are from the Danish Film Institute, ZDF, TV2 Denmark, TV2 Norway, LIAA Film Investment Agency Latvia, Estonian Film Institute, Hyæne Film and Münchhausen Productions.

The local premiere via Nordisk is scheduled for February 1s2024.

“Boundless” is the second of six Q films that Nordisk Film Production Denmark is showing on screens. Four previous adaptations of the crime franchise produced by Nordisk Film’s Zentropa brand turned out to be huge hits: “The Keeper of Lost Causes”, “The Absent One”, “Conspiracy of Faith” and “Purity of Vengeance”.

Copenhagen-based TrustNordisk is this week at the New Nordic Films Conference in Haugesund with a slew of Scandi titles, such as the final films “A Matter of Truth” by Annette K. It presents “Feed” by Johannes Pearson and the World War II drama “Liberation” by Anders Walther.
