San Sebastian-Bound “A Tale of Shemroon” operated by Indie Sales

Paris-based Indie Sales hosted the debut of Emad Ali Ibrahim Dikourdi’s “A Tale of Shemroon”, which is set to premiere at the New Director’s Competition in San Sebastian.

Set in northern Tehran, “Shamron’s Story” follows Iman and his younger brother Bayar who live with their father. After their mother’s death, Iman starts a business thanks to his connections to the city’s wealthy youth, but these new opportunities put him on a dangerous path that affects the fate of his family.

“We are proud to be part of the San Sebastian New Director competition with this new voice from Iranian cinema,” said Nicholas Echbach of Indie Sales. Echbach continued: “Imad (Ali Ibrahim Dikourdi) depicts the reality of Iranian youth living in parts of Tehran rarely seen before.”

“A Tale of Shemroon” was produced by Indie Prod’s sister company Indie Sales, as well as UProduction Take Shelter, Iran’s Ali Mosaffa Productions, 2 Pilots Filmproduction from Germany and Italy’s Bibi Film TV. Jour2Fête will release the film in France.

Ali Ibrahim Decourdi was the director of the critically acclaimed short film “Lower Heaver” which was shown in Toronto in 2016.

The Indie Sales slate also includes the epic women’s rights drama “Angry Annie” by Blandine Lenoir which won Variety Piazza Grande in Locarno, and “Two Tickets to Greece” by Marc Fitossi, starring Laure Calamy and Kristin Scott Thomas, which premiered in Angoulême .
