Game Show Network Blackout On The Dish, Sling TV: GSN Pulled Over Carriage Dispute

Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Game Show was removed from Dish Network’s list of satellite television and Sling TV services late Tuesday, after the two parties failed to reach a renewal agreement.

“Game Show Network has been canceled from @dish and Sling!” the network chirp late on Tuesday. “At Game Show Network, we’re working hard to make Game Show Network available to you again.” The tweet directed viewers to gameshownetwork.com/dish With information on how to contact Dish and switch providers.

Dish claimed that after “months of working with Game Show Network to come to a fair deal, they changed the face and imposed a software blackout on Dish and Sling customers”. The company said it “remains open to working with Game Show Network to reach a fair agreement and hopes to restore the channel soon.”

“We’ve been working with Game Show Network for months to finalize a fair agreement for our customers,” Andy LeCuyer, Dish’s senior vice president of programming, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, Game Show Network has made the decision to remove their service from Dish and Sling, reneging on their handshake agreement to continue moving their service on our platforms. This is a deceptive negotiation tactic that targets our customers, and puts them in the middle.”

Dish has indicated customers have other options to continue watching some Game Show Network shows “during the forced blackout”. She noted that Dish and Sling customers can download Paramount’s free Pluto TV app to stream many of the Game Show Network’s shows. Plus new episodes of “Family Feud” to air on ABC.
