Google released Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1

Even though Google made Android 13 official and rolled it out to Pixel devices, that doesn’t mean the work stops there. While the release is complete, there may be many different small bugs and issues within the operating system that need to be fixed. This is where the Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) comes into play, allowing those in the beta program early access to fixes and improvements. Google has now announced the release of Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1.

The update is now live and available for supported Pixel devices such as the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, and Pixel 6. As mentioned earlier, QPR releases bring improvements or improvements to Android that are not yet publicly available. For Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1, you can check below to see what specific issues were addressed.

Issues reported by the developer:

  • Fixed an issue on some devices that accidentally caused a user’s emergency contact to be called from the lock screen when the device was in their pocket.

Other issues resolved:

  • Fixed several issues for Pixel 6a devices that made it difficult for users to unlock their devices or set up Fingerprint Unlock.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the system user interface to crash in certain cases, such as signaling from the edge of the screen to go back.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused a 5G icon to be displayed instead of a 5G UW icon, even when the affected device was already successfully connected to a 5G UW network.

If you want to try out these changes before they roll out to the official versions, you can sign up for the beta program for your supported device. If you were previously enrolled in the Android 13 beta, you must still sign up to receive QPR updates. By registering, you can provide feedback to developers and help identify potential issues that may arise with the release of QPR. You can do this with the issue tracker. If not, you can sign up by visiting the Android beta website found in the source link.

When you sign in with your Google account, you’ll see all devices eligible for the program. If you choose to subscribe to the Program with an eligible device, you will be asked to accept the Terms and Conditions. You will also have the option to receive emails about the software and also announce yourself as a developer. Moreover, you can join the official reddit group To share your thoughts or problems regarding the latest updates. You can also download the installation manually here.

While discovering new features is exciting, please note that this is a beta version, so you may encounter issues while using your device. If your phone is your daily phone, it might not be the best idea to sign up for the program. While you can go back to a stable version of Android if you cancel the subscription, it will require you to wipe your device and start over.
