Quantum Leap’s Scott Bakula talks his ‘very difficult decision’ about not returning for the NBC revival

Quantum leap On its way back to television this fall, nearly three decades after the end of the original series that abruptly ended the story of Dr. Sam Beckett, played by Scott Bakula. Although early reports indicated that Bakula could be involved in the upcoming NBC revival, the actor himself has now made clear his relationship with the series…or more specifically the lack of contact.

Just days before Quantum leap Revival (starring Raymond Lee) debuted on September 19, taking Scott Bakula Instagram With a message to “Quantum Leap fans around the world”. He thanked them for hanging around for the decades since the original series, but wanted to “calm down the rumors and move on.” he wrote:

Here’s the simple version of what happens with the restart of Quantum Leap and me: I have no connection to the new view, either in front of or behind the camera. In January, the pilot was sold out and sent me a script because Sam Beckett’s character was in it, which makes sense, doesn’t it? Since many of you have been asking me for the past several months, “How do you do QL without Sam?” (or Al, for that matter) Well, I guess we’re about to find out.
