Quantum leap On its way back to television this fall, nearly three decades after the end of the original series that abruptly ended the story of Dr. Sam Beckett, played by Scott Bakula. Although early reports indicated that Bakula could be involved in the upcoming NBC revival, the actor himself has now made clear his relationship with the series…or more specifically the lack of contact.
Just days before Quantum leap Revival (starring Raymond Lee) debuted on September 19, taking Scott Bakula Instagram With a message to “Quantum Leap fans around the world”. He thanked them for hanging around for the decades since the original series, but wanted to “calm down the rumors and move on.” he wrote:
Here’s the simple version of what happens with the restart of Quantum Leap and me: I have no connection to the new view, either in front of or behind the camera. In January, the pilot was sold out and sent me a script because Sam Beckett’s character was in it, which makes sense, doesn’t it? Since many of you have been asking me for the past several months, “How do you do QL without Sam?” (or Al, for that matter) Well, I guess we’re about to find out.
Scott Bakula’s comments follow what happened when news first broke in January that a Quantum leap Revival may already happen. At the time, it was reported that the actor (who was absent from primetime after, after NCIS: New Orleans has come to an end months ago) was He is expected to participate. According to him now, he received a script in January, but it did not lead to his participation in the revival of the sci-fi series.
Fans of the original might be pleased to see that he specifically referred to Al, who was turned on by the late Dean Stockwell, when addressing the question of how this show could happen without Sam. The actor did not explain exactly why he did not participate in the new show, but continued to clarify the situation and his hopes for the project:
As the show has always been near and dear to my heart, it was a very difficult decision to pass the project, one that upset and confused many fans of the original series. However, the idea of ’jumping’ in time and walking a mile in someone else’s shoes, remains a very attractive concept and well worth exploring, especially given the current state of humanity. In that spirit, I’m crossing my fingers as these new cast and crew are fortunate enough to tap into the magic that drove the original quantum leap into the hearts and minds of generations past and present.
Obviously, it wasn’t an easy decision for Scott Bakula to pass on to his new NBC show Quantum leapbut the actor (Who is the NBC pilot? He didn’t get the go-ahead earlier this year) He also had good things to say about the prospect of the beloved series returning to TV. He has high hopes for the team behind him Quantum leap To recap what worked so well in the original five-season tour from 1989 to 1993.
