CMT Artists of the Year honoring Luke Combs, Kane Brown, and more

A roster of five CMT Artists of the Year honorees has been set, with Booker Hayes, Carly Pierce and Cody Johnson celebrating at the annual show for the first time, joining former honorees Luke Combs and Ken Brown.

The non-competitive show is a more intimate sequel to the extensive fan-voted CMT Awards, in which honorees are selected by the network from among the artists believed to have made the most collective impact over the previous year.

The special parade is usually filled with guest artists for greetings and collaborations; These have not yet been announced.

Margaret Cuomo, Senior Vice President of Production, Music & Events, said in a statement. “We can’t wait to celebrate their extraordinary accomplishments alongside fellow artists and friends.”

Cody Johnson is the latest quintet in true stardom. But he became the most mass phenomenon with “Til You Can’t”, which was released last year and rose to become the most successful for two weeks this year. The song earned him the Best Male Video award at this year’s CMT Awards, and is reported to have racked up over 400 million streams.

Hayes, whose career has seen his career ups and downs since he began releasing records in 2010, finally saw his star advance in a big way last year when he was responsible for what may be the biggest viral sensation in any genre, “Fancy Like.” His follow-up single was To smash No. 1, “AA”, is a top 5 hit too.

Pierce already had two #1 number-one singles on her belt in what turned out to be her third highest rating this year, “Never Wanted to Be That Girl,” a duet with Ashley McBryde marking the first all-female collaboration with her to reach that peak in the country in decades. . Her divorce album, “29: Written In Stone,” is one of the most popular country albums of the past few years. Pearce recently opened for the Kenny Chesney Stadium Tour.

Combs and Brown join the cast as headliners, young albums and not so much into their careers as they are together. Brown just released the album “Different Man”, preceded by two number one songs, “Like I Love Country Music” and “One Mississippi”. Combs’ latest album, “Growin’ Up,” included his #1 hit single, “Doin’ This.”

“CMT’s Artists of the Year” is produced by Margaret Cuomo of CMT and John Hamlin of Switched On Entertainment. Jackie Barba and Heather de Gravanino are the executives responsible for production, with Leslie Fram as the executive in charge of talent and Shanna Strasberg as the talent producer on the show.
