‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ star dies at 28

“RuPaul’s Drag Race UK” contestant George Ward, who played Cherry Valentine, has died at the age of 28.

Ward, who also worked as a mental health nurse, starred in the second season of the British film “Drag Race” adapted in 2021. He also went on to present the BBC documentary “Gypsy Queen and Proud.”

Ward’s family confirmed to the BBC the news of his death. They shared a statement: “It is with the deepest and most heartbreaking sadness to inform you that George – Cherry Valentine – has tragically passed away. This will come as a profound shock to most people and we understand there is no easy way to announce this.

“As his family, we are still dealing with his death and our lives will never be the same. We understand how much he is loved and how many lives he has inspired and touched. All we ask is your patience and prayers at this time. We love you Georgie.”
