Ringo Starr tests positive for COVID, cancels tour dates

Although weekend announcements about the postponement of the date of his latest Ringo Starr tour emphasized that the 82-year-old singer-drummer did not have COVID, the former Beatles have since tested positive. The following six dates for the former Beatles’ tour with his band All Starr will be cancelled.

Rather than dishonesty or inaccuracy, it seems likely that, as has been the case with countless other people in recent months, Starr showed symptoms of the disease before he tested positive.

“It has been confirmed today that Ringo has contracted Covid and the tour will be suspended while Ringo recovers,” the announcement read. “Ringo hopes to resume as soon as possible while recovering at home. As always, he and all the stars send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them get back on the road soon. We will keep fans updated with any other news or changes.”

Ringo Starr and his band All Starr — made up of Steve Lockather of Toto, guys at Colin High Works Colin Hay, Hamish Stewart of the white band average, and Edgar Winter — were forced to cancel their recent shows at Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo Michigan and at Mystic Lake Casino In Prior Lake, Minnesota.

While no official announcement has been made by the Starr camp, announcements from venues hosting the first two canceled shows confirmed that he was not infected with the COVID virus. “Ringo is sick and was hoping he could carry on, hence the late decision, but it affected his voice, so tonight’s show, scheduled to start in a few hours, has been canceled. Ringo has no Covid,” read the announcement posted on the casino. Facebook.

The tour has been hampered by COVID since its launch. In June, Starr announced that several dates in North America were postponed because both Winter and Lukather had been diagnosed with COVID.

As of today, the following shows have been cancelled:

October 2, Pryor Lake, Minnesota – Mystic Lake Casino

October 4 Winnipeg, Manitoba – Canada Life Center

October 5 Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Saskatoon Center

October 6 Lethbridge, Alberta – Inmax Center

Oct 8 Abbotsford, British Columbia – The Abbotsford Center

October 9 Penticton, BC – The epicenter of South Okanagon events
