Marvel Lucha Libre Disney + Show revealed at AAA Triplemania XXX

AAA Triplemania XXX Chapter 3 is in full swing, and fans have already seen some stellar matches in the ring, but Marvel fans got a huge surprise when things got going. Attendees saw the announcement of a new AAA-based series and a Lucha Libre collaboration from Marvel titled The Origin of the Mask, set to air on Disney+ on December 21 (via Infinite Pro Wrestling). The trailer that played shows El Aracno, El Leyenda Americana, El Terror Purpura, and El Venenoide as well as La Estrella Cósmica and La Picadura Letal. This is actually one of the first looks at Lucha’s counterpart from Black Widow, Captain Marvel’s has been shown in previous images but now seems to be getting more focus. You can watch the reveal in the video below.

A December 21st release date in the US hasn’t been confirmed yet, but hopefully it’ll make its way here, because I’ll be watching this right away. This is all part of the collaboration that was announced in 2020, and so far has resulted in numerous matches, events, merchandise, and Funko Pops. You can find more of the official press release statement below.

“This collaboration with AAA represents an opportunity to participate in an iconic part of Mexican culture, such as wrestling, and to provide engaging content and experiences for the whole family that can be further celebrated through amazing consumer products inspired by this discipline that is valuable to fans and consumers; says Luis Lomelli, Head of Licensing and Consumer Products Division at The Walt Disney Company (Mexico).

His quality, color and talent are increasingly valued based on this unique and original creative platform, we will develop different product lines such as apparel, shoes, accessories, toys, and home and school items,” Lumeli said.

“The collaboration with Marvel represents a union of two great worlds made up of characters who turn the audience into their great heroes. Therefore, it will be my pleasure to welcome you to the Lucha Libre family AAA Worldwide at a successful event, such as Triplemanía XXVIII,” concluded Dorian Roldan, Lucha General Manager.
