“Women Be the Wheel,” Baby Makers Join Limonero’s Mipcom Slate

Limonero Films, the independent distributor of reality programming and documentaries, releases a selection of documentaries and reality entertainment series on the Mipcom TV marketplace.

The titles are “Women Behind the Wheel” by Dartmouth Films in the UK, the wildlife titles “Wild Icons of Iberia” and “Heroines of the Savannah”, both produced by Azor Productions in Spain, and “The Baby Makers” by Mediacorp in Singapore, and “Shepherds of the Earth” by Guerrilla Films in Finland.

In Women Behind the Wheel, two 22-year-old girls drive 3,500 miles along the Pamir Highway to meet Central Asian women who are adjusting to changes in their society since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Alarm bells are sounding in some countries due to low birth rates. If there are fewer workers and older people, what will happen to the economies and our standard of living? The Baby Makers series explores efforts to make it easier to have children and highlights the people trying to make it happen.

“Savannah Heroines” takes a look at the animal world, where it is usually males who impose their authority on females. However, the opposite occurs in some species, even though the leading females lack their physical traits. The show focuses on the lives of three African mothers: an elephant, a hyena, and a striped mongoose.

Researchers at Shepherds of the Earth collect the ancient superstitions of the Daasanach tribe in Turkana, Kenya – the cradle of humankind – and discover that the tribe is the greatest threat to local nature. Their worlds collide, revealing the values of wildlife and nature to both of them. It is the story of the nomadic struggle for survival, poaching, and tribal wars over scarce resources and prehistoric fossils.
